I'd be willing to bet that your guitar is a standard Gibson scale which is 24.75. That would be considered a standard scale.
Who knows

For where the bridge is, I finally got it to intonate properly. So again, who knows. I'll do some digging.

My hollowbody is a copy of a Barney Kessel, which is supposed to have a 25.5 scale. With this being a copy, it would make sense that it's not completely accurate.

I no longer have any shortscale guitars, I sold my AVRI Jaguar a couple of months ago in favour of my '91 Strat. I'd dearly love another Mustang though.

I don't play guitar in a band, but I do have a Peavey t-30 and an Epiphone 5102T.

I am thinking, when i get the cash, of getting a musicmaster bass. How did you like it?

My main guitar is my Baja Tele and has been ever since I bought it in August, obviously this is 25.5". My first backup is currently a weird old Encore Strat copy which I haven't measured but feels like less than 24", I would guess 22.5". Next is my Jagmaster - although I haven't actually played it once since I bought the Baja! It's odd to switch between a 25.5" and a 22.5", especially if I switch between them in the same session. It makes my left arm hurt, but I love both guitars very much.

Aside from my 'main' guitars I have: a Squier Affinity Tele tuned B to B (25.5"), my girlfriend's Superstrat which she donated to me (25.5"), a Tanglewood Rebel 4k bass (32") and a no-name acoustic which I have not measured but I think is 22.5".

The Superstrat and acoustic are both 'projects', it's just that I never get round to doing much work on them. So they sit stringless, in pieces and unplayed. What a sad tale...

That's nice of you to say! :)

I need to upload pics of the Encore at some point to see if anyone can tell me exactly what it is, it's just sort of vaguely Strat-like but not quite. Found it for £30 at Cash Converters, a steal! The guy told me they'd priced it low because it was dusty, it had a scratch on the pickguard and the tremolo arm was loose (took me all of 2 minutes to fix).

24.75 is my favorite.
small enough to get around, large enough to not get cluttered.

I don't have a main guitar, but I have three or four guitars in my collection I play most, I suppose they are the main ones. One of those is a Jag-stang, so I voted option one.

Yeep

Classic Player HH jag.

I'm starting to think even 24" is too big for me though

5.5

But I've got doll hands and I like to do self counterpoint/accompaniment type of playing so when I reach out one of my fingers to do things like that it kinda hurts.

I think it might have more to do with the thickness of the neck though. That and I should probably switch to a lighter string gauge and do a few other things. These 12s ain't doing it for me anymore

I'm 5'7" with doll hands as well, but I do have oddly long simian arms though... it's probably neck profile, I'm not sure how that jag neck compares to my 69' RI mustang... but that thing fits me like a glove. I use .11-.51 (heavy bottom light top) and I find they give me a good balance between bendability and manlandness.

Heh

I only really gravitated to heavy strings cause I started on acoustic and because they had a good amount of resistance to them when I was doing these intricate crosspicking things so it was harder to mess up and play a string too harshly or play one I didn't want to.

But now I've gotten alot more melodic with my playing too and now my left hand is a mess of gravel. Oy.

my CP jag neck is deeper than the the 69RI but the 69RI isn't as shallow as the CVC tele. I think the 69RI is the nicest to play of the 3 but all 3 feel great. One thing I do notice though is the Jag feels tighter for my fingers at the nut due nut width and depth (I think its the same width as the 69RI)

You'd think that as much as people go on about the jagstang neck, Fender'd wise up and use that profile more.

...with a flat radius and tall frets. too :P

yes, my main guitar is my mustang. It's great, I love it.

I will admit, this site totally sold me on shortscales. when I first joined here I just liked it because of the community vibe and the fact that it was the anything-but-strat Fender fan site. I liked jazzmasters and actually didn't like mustangs or most shortscales at all. now I think mustangs are almost perfect. the size and the scale and the feel, the unique switching options and sound of the pickups mated with that bridge are all just really cool I think.

Isn't the jagstang neck essentially the same as the 69' RI mustang neck? I played them both at robroozles and I swear they felt exactly the same to my nooby fingers.
