Looking reeeeeaaaaally closely at the Jag, they begin to look like stacked knobs. Which tells me that I'm looking far too closely at a computer picture, and that they therefore probably aren't.

As for other finishes, probably not. The recent Duo-Sonic came only in the blonde colour with anodised pickguard (which, to be fair, was fucking mouthwateringly good) and for most of these oddbod Squier models there seems to be only one or two finishes at best. Which is why the Jag is a big fat no for me considering it's one of the single ugliest colour and pickguard combos ever.

Damn it it's SOOOO close.....why is it that companies like GFS can put the right style trem system on their cheap jaguar clones, but squier can only seem to ever put any other tremolo system besides the correct one on? Pretty soon we'll see a squier vintage modified jaguar with a Floyd Rose and dimebuckers, and a matching Jazzmaster with a Bigsby. Anyhow, my guess is that these won't sell for more than $250 being in the VM series and all.

I'll wait for the Classic Vibes, then try hard not to buy one of each.

Squier isn't actually Fender or vice versa, I know it seems close enough at times and Fender license Squier guitars into existence, but still. Money changes differently on sold Fenders than it does on Squiers.

I really do like the jazzmaster besides the jack, I can definitely see myself buying one of these over the blacktop fender. It's a trade off either way. The squier you get a stupid strat jack, but you get two jazzy pickups at least. With the Fender you get a legit Jazzy, except they put a stupid humbucker in the bridge position. Of the two, I actually prefer the squier.

True that but I wonder how the squier pickups are going to sound but thats an easy fix. I wonder what body wood they are using for these? Does anyone know?

Dunno. It was too big to be an avatar though.

EDIT: Still too big. I'm using Chrome, so that might be the culprit.

I could see rockin' the Jazzy; butterscotch and all. I'm not big on the Strat jack, it looks out of place, but it's not a huge strike against. The upper horn switch is alright too.

The Jag on the other hand... yeah, there's not much Jag about it at all. I had the same complaint about the Blacktop, but this is even worse. Terrible design.

Sure these are not what we're looking for.

But I'm optimistic. If these sell well enough along with the blacktops, then we could see Fender making new guitars again. Toronados, Cyclones, Jag-stangs might come back, or something new altogether

What about them re-doing old designs but removing the interesting features (presumably in order to keep costs down and keep the style closer to what people who arent that familar with jaguars and jazzmasters already know) makes you think they might consider new models?
