Mike wrote:Why no use Zoom recorder?
I find the amp models (especially the clean ones) to be kinda boxy, regardless of EQ setting. That, and I get to keep the Zoom as pristine and functional as possible to prolong its mobile recording life, leaving the Boss set up for direct PC recordin' all the time.

Considering some of the stuff that goes on around E&C, you could probably find someone to help you out with it :)

To celebrate my impending paid internship, I treated myself to a Kramer-style neck from CH Guitars:

Hopefully it won't be utter balls, will report when it arrives tomorrow!

Pleased to say the neck is actually pretty decent; no sharp frets or anything, plus a slight shellac (I think) finish means it'll be totally playable until I paint and clearcoat it.

(that's some fucking BOOOL-SHIIIT white balance going on right here)

It's standard Strat scale (like the Charvel body), so it'll correct the minor intonation caused by the mismatched Jackson neck and, seeing it's undrilled at the heel, I can place it exact where it needs to be without having to redrill the body. I think.

BOOOOOOOM!

I hae a worried/annoyed half-hour when I came to the conclusion that the body was laid-out for a different scale length (as the new neck sat very far back), until I realised that the neck pocket had been extended for the old 24 fret neck.

A whole buncha marking and drilling later and it's up 'n running!

You guys realize what's happening here, right?
The 20 year cycle is rolling over.
in 1991 jags, mustangs and jazzmasters were practically given away, and lots of bands bought them, and then over the years became famous and powerful, then the guitars became valuable, reisssued, etc.

Doog here is starting the Superstrat revolution. Mark my words, and buy your Heartfield Superstrats now.

Sooo, it turns out the neck is slightly too close to the bridge despite all my measuring, I can't quite get the saddles far back enough to intonate it correctly. Ho hum, plastic wood and redrill again, I gueeeeeeeeeess.

What Aen said. Superstrats are way cheap now, newspaper round money. Only really expensive ones are the original US made ones of popular models and even some of those go cheap on eBay.
Nostalgia will be playing a big part for those grown up 80s teenagers who will be snapping them up now they have the funds creating the turnaround in the market Aen describes.
