yeah, it is a strange situation
I dont think the guy selling it has malicious intentions. I am actually sure of that... otherwise he would not do the effort in sending me all these pictures
He also has a case, which corresponds to the case of a 64 mustang (greyish black- orange inside)
have also asked pictures of that
Thing is the person lives in Joburg, and I in pretoria, and to his house iots more then an hour driving (through hell like traffice ) otherwise I would already have had a look at it
some advice on a mustang 1964 PICS ADDED PAG2

Oh, right, I think I mixed it up looking at Rob's pics.kypdurron wrote:To be fair, the Decal says Pat Pend like on robroes, and there is no serial where the japanese serials usually are. The neck looks a bit too pale, but that could be just the picture. a neck stamp would clear things up. But the obvious stuff (tuners, pickups, trem plate) is enough to disqualify that guitar as "unaltered original".

Yeah, that Mustang definitely has some replacement parts on it. The L series serial number is "right" for a '64, although that one probably dates to '63. The dynamic vibrato should say "patent pend." instead of patented. The tuners should have white buttons - they switched to F tuners the following year.
My 8 DEC 65 B neck has Pat Pending on the headstock.
