I used to have a Squier Tele Custom II, and loved the neck pickup, but I would have liked a hotter pickup in the bridge. This may solve that nicely.

Did anyone wind up buying a Jellycaster? I'd like to know your impressions of it.

seem to remember someone (robroe?) saying that the one they played felt like an american fender or something. sorry, probably not hugely helpful. they liked it anyway.

I did get one. They don't feel like an american series or anything. They're made in Indonesia but they sound and feel like the classic vibe stuff.

Neck may be my favorite neck on any of my guitars. It's a really cool guitar and really hard to beat in that price range. I ended starting to strip the body and it's been in pieces for some time. I think I'm going to need to get a new body at some point. It's half on and half off and I'm not sure I have the right tools to finish the job.

What are the necks like? Chunky, thin, etc?

bigger than the classic vibes. I like super chunky necks, so I wouldn't call them chunky but they're definitely closer to chunky than to thin.

does that make any sense?

Yeah, it does and thanks for the insight. I was hoping it would be closer to the neck on the CVC Tele, which I've recently found more comfortable to play than I did a year ago.

When I went around the Bristol guitar stores with Lorez and Mike we played quite a few of the newer Squiers and this one was certainly a stand-out for me. I didn't try it plugged in but unplugged it was top drawer.

I played one last month at Guitar Stop in Cambridge (MA). It's cool. It does have a really nice neck, feels pretty similar to a class vibe tele.

Everyone I know who's tried one said it was just a straight-up well made guitar, and they didn't need to plug it in because "it's a Telecaster" (meaning they knew what to expect).

Didn't serfx buy one of these?

Got to play one in the nearest GC today and was impressed. The neck is too chunky for my liking, but it sounded good. Really liked the JM pickup.

Also played a MP Jaguar. Not attractive at all in any of the colors (they had all three). Sounded fine, but I hate the finish.

Bah.. I read the first line then skimmed the second. For a moment I thought that the Tele w/JM pickup came in three finishes rather than just the boring one. Admittedly the boring one still looks quite good but if it came in almost anything else I'd possibly be tempted enough to look into getting actually buying one.

They have 2, although they're still "meh" for me as I'm not a huge fan of butterscotch or white blonde.

Played one of these today. Didn't bother plugging it in because I didn't like the neck. It was pretty flat feeling (I haven't bother checking in this thread or anywhere else what the radius is) which I don't like and it wasn't hefty either, or particularly skinny. Just a sort of normal, boring feeling neck (which probably isn't a bad thing on a mass produced guitar, I just like my guitar necks to each be a little different).

Didn't think it looked like much either, but then Butterscotch usually either looks great to me or it looks underwhelming, and it probably has more to do with whatever mood I'm in when I see the guitar than anything else.
