Thanks. I appreciate the kind words. It's really coming together nicely. It still needs some tweeks but I am really stoked with how it is coming together. The Ash wood makes it very light weight considering the size of the guitar. I need a Mustang Bridge, thimbles, and some black JM Covers. Then I can start thinking wiring and pickups.

Project update:
Work has been really tough so I had to put the project on hold for a bit, but now I am back to it.
Lots of body work today. More scraping and sanding on the neck to get a thinner profile. General sanding in the neck pocket and random places to smooth out rough spots.
I am installing traditional Jazzmaster shielding, so I had to enlarge and tweek the cavities so everything would fit. I actually had to cut about 3/16" of the control shielding because it was sticking out.
I reworked the contours and tummy cuts to be smooth and flow better. Arm contour needs more sanding for seamless transition. I just need to fill some misaligned holes and I can prep for paint. Most of the work today was under the hood. The good thing is I am being patient and doing quality work.

Slowest project ever. Extremely hot summer and no time have contributed to the slow pace.
The body work is 99% done. I had to glue a piece of wood into the neck pocket to fix a problem and I got it routed out and sanded. I need to get the paint setup and finish carving the neck profile.

My first attempt at tummy cut and arm rest came out really well. Now that the neck pocket is fixed I should be able to move forward.
This is the goal:

I saw a video of Sonic Youth with Kim playing this Mascis jazzmaster with the black accessories and combined it with my love for the Blue sparkle paint from the Squier Supersonic.jcyphe wrote:I like this project I had something very similar with a few differences kicking around in my mind.
J Mascis has a blue sparkle jazzmaster as well.
