The MG73's are basswood too right?
Yep. I've had all three at some point.
The 65 RIs are poplar?

Yeah. The Beck model of the 69 is also poplar. The 77 RIs are ash. Vintage Mustangs are poplar, sometimes mahogany. In the 70s they had some ash. The Cobain Mustang is the only alder Fender Mustang ever.

Yeah, certainly not in my area. I've only ever seen one Mustang for sale here, it was new, and significantly more than $500 :P
$700 for MIJ in my neighborhood, in good condition. So yes, $300 sounds amazing but highly unrealistic if we have to import them ourselves from Asia.

hahaha yeah I realized how that looked when I typed it....but I stand by my statement. Boring played to death colors on strats and teles look awesome on short scales.

I'd take one of those three colors on a mustang over the standard red/baby blue/oly white varieties any day. (though I might change the pickguards on the two on the right)

as it looks like they didn't fuck up the trem/tail piece like they did the Squier jag/jazz versions

I don't think it would be possible for them to fuck with the trem on a mustang, since is has to be the vibrato plate has to surround the bridge.

GC is knocking $200 off all purchases over $999 until 2/26. The Kurdtz is $999, knocking it down to $799.....

you say that, but look at the stop tail on the Pawn Shop "Mustang" Special..
by taking away the trem, it is a fucking Duo-Sonic (and i love those as well.. but seriously..)

they realistically could have used that same god awful bridge from the jaguar/jazzmaster on the mustang, and all we could do was bitch. so i'm pleased that they didn't

this is the last thing i need, but... a fiesta red, reasonably accurate squier mustang? it's like christmas!

Side note mumble.

I know there is mappel-neck Stang haet around here, but the MG77 looks so badass, like a solid mass of ash and maple that you can beat the crap out of and it will still have the energy to slam you in the chin to spite you. Alas, grain-n-sustain like that will likely never be an option for a Squier version, but I'll keep on dreaming.

Bend over loyal shortscalers and take fenders mighty cock of fuck-you. They'll release model over here with a strat jack and a floyd rose.

glad I didn't read the full thread then. I'm not going to complain about fender though given all the shortscale & offset goodness they have delivered recently. Compared to 5 years ago its amazing what options are available. In fact compared to when I first wanted one back in the late 80s the only choice was trying to locate a used one which in the UK was nigh on impossible. so I won't grumble, promise
