There is this band called the Goo Goo Dolls that have a bit of a following..... :P
haha. I was thinking more like . . . smaller bands. Puddle of Mudd is from KC. F YEAH!
Yeah i was gonna say the same thing, mezz... but doesn't a local band cease to be a local band when they get the MTV makeover and do soundtracks for Nic Cage movies? lol

i know lots of bands from KC because of the get up kids. after grunge died i got into power pop shit like superdrag and matthew sweet constantly but i still listened to bad religion, face to face, and nofx every day too.

get up kids opened up for mxpx back around 1999, and 99% of the audience was like WHAT THE FUCK IS THIS SLOW SHIT ? compared to the records they put out after 4 minute mile it actually wasn't that slow at all, it was fast.

but whatever i got into them, because they were along the likes of the shit that i loved like superdrag....then the next get up kids show they brought hot rod circuit with them to open thier show which sounded EXACTLY like superdrag, so i said this emo shit is for me.

that album came out on doghouse records. so i was like im going to buy everything on doghouse records, that was a dumb idea. alot of those bands were shit. so then i decided to just listen to bands that recorded thier records at the red house there. (now its called Black Lodge) a guy there named ed rose recorded all these FUCKING AMAZING RECORDS. i loved every fucking recording that guy ever did. ever.

so after all this stupid story its really Ed Rose's fault i like KC bands, or know anything about KC at all.

YES. That's likely the favorite of my favorited videos. Thanks for that.

When Puddle o' Mudd simply got mentioned in this thread I was tempted to outright bahleet it in a fit of rage.

Me too, the Scala? I was down the front just to the left. I saw them before when they played a warm up show for the tour at the ICA.
I have a really good verion of Breather on a Peel tape....somewhere....which also has the best version of Teenage Fanclub playing Everything Flows :)
