You can start shooting the clear 30 minutes after the last color coat. I'd recommend it, because we want the clear to melt into the color...once it melts, you'll never have that "peeling off" situation.

Otherwise, everything looks perfect. :D

Awesome! I'm definitely gonna finish up the color and start on the clear this afternoon then. Thanks for the advice guys. I'm glad it looks just like Cowbell's did before the clear too.

thats not true in my case. I painted the mustang as soon as the paint was tacky, it still peeled, and it was because of the shitty clear.

I painted the bronco and waited until the next day and cleared, both had the same problem.

I haven't had one prob with the reranch clear or the dupli color clear

minwax clear ftl.

it makes no difference as the clear is made of the same stuff and will melt in anyway, no matter how long you leave it.
but yes you can shoot as soon as you like really, but as its metallic make the first few shoots very light to keep max metallicky bits standing up.

I've got two lightcoats of clear on there now and it is looking awesome! The directions on the can said to put two light coats and then a heavy wet coat, so that's my plan. I've still got like a can and a half of it too, so it should look pretty damn nice when it's done!

PUT A SHITLOAD OF CLEAR ON IT!!!!

Anything less than 1 cm of clear is not enough.

I've got two cans of clear which is what cowbell suggested. I just started the second can, I'll see how it looks when I'm finished with the can and if it looks like it could use more, I'll go pick up another can on my way to taco bell!
