How anyone could describe the Manic Street Preachers as lift music is beyond me. It also completely ignores the fact they produced one of the most revered, challenging and completely brilliant albums of the last 30 years in 1994's The Holy Bible.

well said sir... I was going to say something similar, however I had the sneaking suspicion that Ek was on a fishing trip.

Lostprophets, that's another one I was trying to think of. I always knew Ian Watkins of Steps was secretly Welsh. And therefore a paedophile.

Thing is with Manics fans is they're unbelievably easy to troll.

In aaaaalllllll seriousness, James Dean Bradfield is probably one of the most technically accomplished guitarist the UK has ever produced. I appreciate that and I don't think he gets the credit he's due.

Also, I do remember a bizarre fact about them; the drummer used to chew the sides of his cheeks and then eat salt and vinegar crisps. The power of rock is strong with this one.

One of my best friends disappeared for most of a month. Turned out he was attending EVERY SINGLE MANICS CONCERT in their recent tour. I don't know anyone that does that. Anyone. With any other band.

That also means that he's incredibly defensive about it and didn't tell anyone (or possibly just me, actually) about it until he got back because he knew he'd have the piss taken out of him. Which is ridiculous. Why would anybody take the piss out of such a sad.. I mean, devotion?

Although when he told me he got to meet Nicky Wire on several occasions the first thing I asked was whether he got the chance to ask him if Fidel Castro showed him where he locks up all the gay people in Cuba.

I was playing a shit load of Holy Bible riffs in Denmark Street and a depressed sales assistant hi fived me and told me he hadn't heard anyone play those songs in 20 years.

I told him I don't talk to the help.

J/k.

This actually happened. In a story about the Lost Prophets guy some newspaper or website printed a photo of H from Steps and he received loads of hatemail and death threats.

I remember reading it and wondering how he managed to sift through and parse them out. He might not be a paedophile but he was in Steps. It's one of those stories that makes you lose all faith in humanity. Like, "He wasn't already receiving a daily barrage of abuse? WHY NOT"
