I want 'buckers, most of my guitars have singles and the noise when playing near a PC (I play along to stuff on youtube these days) gets annoying.

The Hofner Colorama RI wasn't a bad DC, quite quirky. Considered teh Epi Wilshire as well.

If you had issues with the Danelectro, you probably won't like this. It's a hollow plywood construction not unlike the Dano, with weakish vintage single coils. I've had one on my list for a while, but since no one bought them when they were new, there aren't any second hand.

I dug my DC-3 out a couple of days ago and am really enjoying it. The pickup selector is crazy - lots of options for in-between sounds. The bridge pickup on its own is just like in that video- rattly and anaemic as anything, but once you turn up it's really not bad. The 25" scale is a bit odd after playing strats and teles - maybe thicker strings needed. Also the fretboard is flatter than I'm used too, but that's not a big deal.

Doog, what happened to your Jetking? That was a meat-n-potatoes guitar disguised as something a bit odd. Are you specifically after single coils?

I thought as much re: Danoconcerns, seemed to be a similar deal.. And these only seem to be available in a few places, no real stores to try in.

Still love the Jetking but want something singlecoily and wonky as Casa Bonita guitar #2, but not have it play like a box of Weetabix either.

Spent ages online checking out all the Italias, Gretsches and the like, but few seem to meet this criteria. Double cutaways with singles and 50s vibes that are nice.. Probs gonna end up modding something.

Is double cutaway a requirement? An Ovation Viper might suit you nicely, used to own one, it was the best tele I've played
