A Squier '70s neck profile would be amazing. They might just be talking glossy maple fretboard with big headstock though.

A 70s classic vibe Strat would be even better. That and the 60's Duo-sonic or Musicmaster type guitar would be the perfect thing to add next to the Squier Classic Vibe line.

I've seen VM Squiers and they're ok but not as nice as the CV line.

Picked mine up today. Have only played it minutes, but the neck is f-i-n-e!!! I totally feel at home with this guitar!

holy shit, i want one of those necks.

it looks like the pickups have screws? i thought jazzm pickups had just regular pole-pieces? is this why they sound more like p90's? hmmmmm?

yeah, they normally have pole pieces but I think earlier someone said they were going to be adjustable; no big surprise there.

First impressions.

This is hands-down the best sub-$400 guitar I've ever owned....and I've had my share.
Hell, it might be the best Jazzmaster I've ever owned. FWIW, this is my 4th (previously owned a two MIJ's and most recently a Blacktop).

For reference, I'm plugged into an M13 in front of an old Line 6 Flextone III 1x12 combo set on a clean-ish AC30 model.

Totally loving the satin finish on the neck. No gummy sticky ick. Fringe-benefit, it's got a nice vintage tint to it as well. The frets feel nice. No fret-sprout on the edges. Loving the size of them.

Vintage-style tuners feel solid. Love that they went with the classic split-tops (my fave). They feel super-smooth. I was worried these would be on the short-list for replacement, but they feel great. Seems to be staying in tune pretty well too.

Trem feels nice and smooth. I still wish it had a logo of some sort, Fender or Squier just to give it some bling, but that's easy enough to replace.

Pickups sound fab. Bridge pickup is not ice-picky, which some will probably complain about, but I dig it. Both pickups alone or together sound really good.

I really like what I'm hearing so far.

BTW...I ordered a Gator GW-JAG hard case at the same time and the guitar fits in there perfectly.

Uh, can't find this on their twitter page.

What's more, when you search it you get retweets of fender's tweet linking to a review of the new PURPLE squier (link is to a fender page blog which is now inactiive), and when you click to redirect back to the original tweet it errors.

Looks like someone at fender fucked up and announced it too early? Hopefully it is still happening?

FINALLY. A jag case that fits either a lefty or a righty. I can finally get a proper case for my Jag now. Thank you for this lil detail.

It's as if Fender's twitter dude was just running through his list of necessary tweets, then was like "OH FUCK WRONG WEEK" then deleted every mention of it and even the linked pages. WTF.
