oh shit....I cant beleive it took me so long to realize that KC stands for Kurt Cobain...Damn I feel dumb now.

I've heard some good things about the tele he played, but I really dislike my friends tele, so I guess I'll stick with mustang or a jag...I wonder if my local guitar shop can get any of them in.

As much shit as this board gives kurtsz, he did have pretty good taste in guitars. I prefer the humbucker sound with a thin Fender body any day, and at least on my Jag I couldn't stand the sound of the single coil in the bridge. I'd say do the Jap Mustang, I'm planning on ordering a similar custom Mustang body from robert soonish with two humbucker routes. Get it and post sounds.

ha, yeah...I'm looking into it, but if the shipping is crazy expensive I won't...

also I dunno if there's duty on it, and if so how much...

Has anyone played the one I want?

it seems pretty much like a Jag-Stang with a mustang body...Right?

Does anyone have a clue why Fender doesn't branch them over to NA?

Because Fender USA, despite having made some of the coolest fucking instruments on the planet, is run by a group of complete fucktards with no taste whatsoever. If it isn't a Strat they don't want to bother.

is KC the model type?

do they sell these in North America....if not does japan ship to Canada?
OK. They didn't even make a bespoke scratchplate. You can see the original pickup screw holes. WTF.

This is the first time I've been disappointed with Fender Japan.

Why choose between single coils and humbuckers when you can have both via the modern blend controls?

I'd like to get some hotter Dimarzios eventually, and it'll be interesting to try out different pots (250K, 500K, 1M) to find out what works best, but this is still an awesome rock machine with a 24" scale, a 9.5" fretboard radius, a TOM style bridge (Fender calls it an "Adjusto-Matic" bridge), routes for full-sized Humbuckers, and modernized circuitry.

If you think coil split or coil tapped humbuckers sound like single coils, then... well you're wrong.

Don't get me wrong, it's a useful sound to have, but they do a passable impression of a weak thin or muddy 'coil sound, there's never the snap and dynamic range of a good single coil pickup.

Also "The Rock" and the use of Single Coil guitars are not mutually exclusive.

I bring the noise on nothing but singles, and I'm not alone.
