Heres the end product...

Poor quality pics, sorry.

Conclusion
I had some fun and despair along the way building this, i also learnt many things and gained confidence. In hindsight i would have done some things differently like, order EVERYTHING i need before even starting a project and to try and be more patient.
The painting stage is the most tedious part, or was for me. Aerosols are not in the same league in terms of quality finish as a spray gun, and in the UK it is difficult to get hold of things like grain filler let alone nitro paint. That has been the main gripe throughout the project... UK availability or prices for parts.

I'm happy with the results :)

That looks fucking immense Fran. Well done.

I like that way better than the normal Jag-Stang colour schemes.

Thanks and sorry, i thought all interest was lost. Heres a spec..

Mahogany body w/contours
1970's Fender Bronco neck
Grover m/heads
Bone nut
Seymour Duncan Custom humbucker
GPS? Mustang single coil
Gotoh tune-o-matic
Jaguar allparts tailpiece/trem
500k pots w/.022 orange drop cap
3-way toggle switch (mustang sliders also fitted as scratchplate was pre cut, they are not connected)

Sounds;
Surprisingly bright for mahogany, the bucker sounds excellent. Roll back the tone a little and the treble is spot on. Neck pup very thin sounding, typical Fender twangsome.
Accoustically it is loud! Possibly down to the large control cavity (swimming pool route) that i did in an attempt to lose some weight off this beast. When i got the 44mm mahogany slab it was heavy!

that thing looks great man.
call me crazy, but i think it would look cool with the gold bridge and what not, kinda like the old black jags(minus the tort guard)
but that thing is actually very attractive.

Amazing stuff, I'm thinking of doing the toggley for my mustang, can't get on with the smaller than usual clicky switches. Don't have space for the duo style so thinking of putting it instead of a tone control.

That's one beasting finish though, amazing what can be done with spray cans.

Wow, thanks guys. The finish is by no means immaculate and Mark... i borrowed the guy next doors air brush for the final coat, spray cans suck big time. I'll get some better pics up friday.
I'll also video or sond sample it soon. :)

You're too modest. You build that body from scratch and it looks fucking bang-tidy. I love the Jag trem.

ah yes! the trem- maybe that's what tips the balance for me... i think normal jagstangs just look like a mustang that a pissed-up david blunkett's had a go at, but i think the jag trem makes such a difference. fran, send a pic to fender and tell them to sort their shit out if they ever make them again, the shitheads!

edit: overuse of the word shit, but i've had a couple of glasses of wine, eh?

Mike wrote:Do it. That looks awesome. I love the look of a Mustang vibrato, it's one of the prettiest things you can have on a guitar, but I think it looks awkward on a Jag-Stang because of the absurd body shape for some reason. Jaguar-style might be more attractive.

Compare the prettiness:

I think the wildly assymetrical curves at the back of the Jag-Stang make the bridge look a little thrown on. It might also be the slanted humbucker, which I have also always thought looked stupid as all hell.
I called it on page 1. It looks so much better with the Jag trem.
