I don't think any of my posts in this thread could be objectively considered "whining". All I did was directly answer some of the responses. You accuse me of ignoring the responses and/or being annoyed by them, yet I responded to quite a few with counterpoints. The only reply that legitimately pissed me off is the picture of Zaphod, as I find that sort of response incredibly sophomoric. Otherwise I enjoyed responding to everyone's responses.

Screen name annoyingly close to an established member (aen): Check.

I've used the Aeon handle for years. Do you recall that old MTV cartoon Aeon flux? If I had known of aen I probably would have opted for something else.
I don't have an "inflated notion of the value of my opinion on this forum". I don't really see how you can even argue that point seeing as everything that seems to tick you off about me is contained in this thread alone.

Could you possibly be more conceited? Get over yourself.
If you don't like it here, then jog on - shortscale is anything but a forum where we just discuss "random guitars on ebay".
You're painfully unaware, seriously.

The internet is serious business.
I'm not really offended by your opinion of me, it's all cool. But come on man, I think by that statement you've looped around and essentially, uh, inflated the notion of the value of your own opinion in this thread.

Why, cause I thought your precious little thread sucked.
It does and guess what that's what everyone else basically said. Except they tried to be nice about it.

A great deal of people value the opinion of Jcyphe on this board.
For one, he can identify random ebay guitars like THA--oooo...er.. I mean... he farts gold coins.

Someone's been at the thesaurus. Careful, you might learn something.
You're trying to take some sort of "high road" but there's no high road for you to take, either an admission of what an idiot you atually are or oblivion, make your choice soon mate.
I'm out.

dude, you are awesome. you always make me laugh because you're seemingly intelligent, but spell the easiest words wrong! it's great. seriously. i'm not criticizing you in any way, just you have a way with words. and your fucking avatar creeps me out.
real quick, i think this is really silly how worked up everyone is getting. the best protest would've been to NOT respond. i would give 37 pubes to see that shit. i own like 15 guitars and some really expensive ampage. and i couldn't solo to save my children (which i don't have any of). will anyone trade a couple guitars for functioning, potty trained children? they don't even have to be functional. just screaming, pooping life.
i'm so unhappy with this fucking cyclone. UGH i actually made a belt of strat volume knobs so whoever said guitars ain't fashion can piss right off.

1. People aren't getting worked up.
2. It's not a Protest, it's a forum. What a boring place it would be if everyone held their tongue if they disagreed with someone else.

I'm getting a kick out of this right now...... but, here, some evidence of what my band would use in ONE show. (Yes, every one of these guitars was used.)

Multiple alternate tunings? Fine.
Going for different "tonal textures"? Excessive. It's your decision, but I'm sure changing strings must be a bitch.

Changing strings is like ironing, it takes no brain power. I'm not losing any sleep over changing strings on multiple guitars. Oh no! Not an extra 10 minutes out of my bustling schedule! Oh... wait... I'm taking that time to continue doing what I love, which is playing music.

Aye, I'm going to put that down to the wireless keyboard at the folk's house. The keyboard is wirless and has to sit on my knee, which means I can't type properly. The monitor is also fucking miles away, which means that I'm less likely to spot spelling mustakes. This is annoying, as poor spelling and grammar annoy the fuck out of me.

All my guitars are basically the same, and I only play at home but it matters not because I am totally awesome.

Aeon wrote:In regards to owning multiple guitars: The same could be said of people that drive SUVs, or wear only designer label clothes, own multiple classic sports cars, or collect thousands upon thousands baseball cards. None of it is really hurting anyone else (well maybe SUVs do), but the issue is still one of excess. You don't -need- more than like three guitars unless you are some sort of professional musician that uses the instrument as a primary source of income.
My main point is that elevating the instrument into some sort of pop-culture icon is dumb, and the focus should be on the notes being played, not the shape or color or name on the headstock.
I'm not trying to change anyone's mind, just expressing my personal views. Hence the reason these opinions are contentious.
Also I already conceded that it is important to have a backup instrument, just that its excessive to have like 3 or 4 onstage like I sometimes see.
suv's take up a lot more space, require more resources to build and use, and cost a hell of a lot more to purchase. they're also not artistic creations with the express purpose of creating more art with them. the analogy fails on its face. word harder.
but (electric) guitars are already pop icons just by their history alone. nobody elevated them to that status doing anything other than playing them. after all, guitars make music, and people are transported spiritually by music. . . sure, the music is the more important piece of that equation, but (to properly use your automobile reference) the four wheels of a car don't get very far without the engine & vice versa.
express away, dude. i like the fact that you conceded the point about the sensibility in having a backup instrument. . . now, if we could just get you to lay off me for my addiction to guitars, we're all set!
