sorry for the thread resurrection, but I've an update for ol' Kali.
In the end, Kali turns out to be an art piece more than a guitar. The neck is unplayable. I've tweaked the trussrod as much as possible and done my best to level the frets and raised the action to the point of nose bleed, but it frets out halfway down the neck. I'm sure I could invest more time/money into it to get it playable but I'm already in the realm of diminishing returns with this one. I'm about $150 into it, and in reality it's still just a POS teisco with a crazy finish. I got my money's worth, the job itself was fun and I learned plenty about the finishing process.
My wife wants to hang it in one of our stair ways, so I'll probably be de-stringing her and figuring out a way to mount it tonight.
Sort of a bummer I guess. Ah well, that what I get for not sorting the neck before I got to work on the refinish.

I would have spent it on the same thing.hotrodperlmutter wrote:I FUCKING WARNED YOU
sorry bro. i really hoped you could bitch whip her into shape. i would give you a refund but i already spent your money on midgets and coke.
Dude I have no regrets on the purchase, you gave me all the info on it and I bought anyway. caveat emptor.
It just turned out to be an art project instead of a guitar project, no worries here.
