a tiny bit of the hole is still showing. its all in how i screwed the pickguard down to cover the dumb thing up.
all the pickguard screw holes are fresh in the gutiar, so i just went for it

Looks fucking cool, rob. Good call on the plastic tuner buttons, then the circle will be complete.

exactly. they're pricey. and I wonder how good they would stay fixed when you're not using them.
They're Bigsby-esque in nature and operation.
I've been looking into Stetsbars and Les Trems recently and one thing I've noticed about the Les Trem is that the end of the spring just sits pretty on your guitar's top, so permanent installation or no, it'll still likely leave some lovebite on the finish if you don't put something between it and the trem. Picture this on a Les Paul or SG, which have no pickguard there:
Given the price a Les Trem will cost you, I think that's pretty ghettofab.
And if ghettofab is what interests you, I'd recommend one of these instead for rob's project seeing as how it's already got superfluous holes and he don't give a fuck (granted, will require 5 more holes to be drilled in the guitar's top) as they're only 22 bucks from GFS, pretty much the same idea function-wise as a Les Trem and look awesome on an SG: http://store.guitarfetish.com/vistsumowhba.html
