The bronco pickguard went back in exchange for the musicmaster pickguard that I originally ordered and wanted. It would have been nice but I didn't want to route out the body that Stewart is sending me because it has already had the bridge pickup area filled. Just wasn't meant for this project. The pickguards and the bridge came from Guitarcheology, a small shop in California. Their website isn't exactly up to date so I would recommend calling them to double check before you order anything. They also have items not listed on the website as I recieved a bronco guard that wasn't listed. If I'm in need of a vintage part I'll be calling Greg for sure. Fair prices and he was really easy to deal with. Good customer service is a rarity these days.
I'm surprised at how clean these parts are. The screws aren't stripped or anything, rust is very minimal and everything is very clean. I plugged in the pickguard and held it up to another guitar and everything worked as it should and it was really quiet. I haven't checked the output yet however.

's'all good holllmes. Body and paint is the last ingredient. I think I'll hit up reranch today for paint and clear.

NEXT QUESTION

to nitro or not to nitro? I'd prefer it but nitro wasn't used after the late 60s or something.

I will be calling up reranch myself for my tele. What color are you thinking about going with? I am pondering the idea of a Fiesta Red Tele or go traditional Butterscotch with black pickguard but who knows.

I saw 1977 musicmaster just like that at Guitar Center. Not usually a black pickguard fan, but with the yellow/cream color it works. Neck was chunky and smooth. Are you using that neck you scored the sweet deal on for this Musicmaster?

I ended up buying that Fiesta Red Musicmaster from Cooterfinger, so I will be building a '78 Musicmaster as well. I going to stay with the Fiesta Red for now, but I may change it down the road since the refinish job has some rough spots especially around the neck plate and bridge.

I remember you posting that, not a bad deal! I usually hate black pickguards on coloured guitars, reminds me of the 80s too much. But the musicmasters you and I posted look gorgous to me, elegant almost. I'm super excited about this project - everything is on it's way!
I'll be using the $50 musicmaster neck. That neck is the reason for this build.

I want to put some Bronco Knobs on mine if I can find some. Would look good with the Fiesta Red.

What kind of pots does a MusicMaster have? I know it has one Volume and one Tone pot, but what is the value of each one?

Those are hot. Where do you find them? I have looked everywhere and can't find a source. I would buy 2 or 3 sets if I could.

Any idea of the seller's name? I have looked all over the Bay and have come up empty. Who actually bought them? I have liked them ever since I saw Mike put them on Gareth's red Jagmaster.
