That toggle switch has to get in the way, surely?
a..nd no not Pete Townsend style windmills, I mean Vai style 80's ones - perhaps you're too young, but back in the day when this was all fields......
You have routed out the back of the trem, so no excuse now. WINDMILSSS otherwise you cannot class this guitar as metal. Even if you paint it pink and cover it in fake blood splatter, as per classic 80's Washburn, still not metal.

You'll have to post me an example, it's lost on me innit.
Toggle switch... yeah, it's not ideal, but it's okaaaay. That route cover was the smallest I could easily find (again, patented Doog impatience), and due to some contouring on the body, it was the closest I could really get it down the horn.
Redoing it wouldn't be out of the question (plastic wood FTWWWWWW), but I'll see how I get on.

Yeah, huge switch, hate those smaller type would be better, or place it in the vol/tone controls section - unless you have other plans for that bit?
Plastic wood is to guitars what JB Weld is to cars - I applaud your use of it A true bodgers tool.
re: windmills.
Not this either.. (thought I better mention it before you break the BEAST or your neck)

Can't actually find any vids of the technique, and its a bit too late to go making my own DIY tutorial now.

^^ this is "whirlygig"
It is straight uncouth to call it a windmill, all the youtube kids do it. Always disappointing when no-one twats their jaw clean off as well.

Is it the things Captain Shorts is doing at 4:05 here, just prior to snapping his tremolo arm?

Lolz, Paul- lolz.

Nope that's just a rear bounce, he's showboating quite a bit by swinging his arm in a Pete Townsend "windmill" motion.
What I mean simply put is, palm of hand on end of trem arm and as Frank would say, rotate in a circular motion. Strings go down in pitch then up in pitch as your rotate the arm and press down through 360° / 720°... etc

Sorry to continue the detour, but that girl whipping her wood around like an idiot made me think of this equally dimwitted dunce:

I can't imagine the song would have sounded much better had he been able to continue.
Aside from that, great progress on the guitar!

Hmmmmmmmmmmmmm I dunno either, Iceman.

Black binding , 2 Mini Switchs ( Parallel Series ) and Phase off , Black hardware and Baby blue.
if you find binding too complicate , can do a fake binding whit a line of black at borders.
will looks awesome trust me.

It's not just me who has seen the light Doog has shown us with this guitar... Adrian Utley of Portishead has also seen Doog's truth... watch 8:10

Ps this is a cool interview if you like these guys...

Fascinating interview. Utley is a genius and a hero of mine, and being in the room with him and Will would be a genuine schoolgirl moment for me.
About two minutes in I completely forgot why I had started watching this in the first place, so the pointy Van Halen guitar statement was a nice treat. It may have just been an incredibly well-executed bit of sarcasm -- but given what I've read and heard from the man, it wouldn't be a surprise.

Nah I think he was genuine, he's got some weird old bangers of guitars and these guitars make you play stuff you wouldn't usually play which was sort of the point he was making... man's a genius

Finally got the time, space and inclination to start finishing THE BEAST. Went through a whole 500ml can of primer will still some grain showing BUT I DON'T GIVE A FUCK[/roe] It was never gonna be perfect given my budget and patience threshold, so rough-n-ready is the order of the day.
One 300ml can of Ford Olympic Blue later and it's looking alllwwrrrrryyyiiiight. Gonna pick up another can shortly, get that motherfucker TOTES PAINTED then let it cure/harden/dry in the garage orattic for a month or two before sanding it down and clearcoating it.
I'm gonna do the neck in black too, but figured I'd do it later, just in case I love the current blue-maple combo.

BLAMP
One month of curing in my rent's attic and it's READY. Well, ready as it's gonna be with my budget and attention span:
Umm-ing and err-ing about what pickups to put in it: the EMG Select was surprisingly good and I dig the look, but think I'd prefer something a little brighter. We shall seee.....
