You've got the closest I've ever heard - always think his tonez sound a lot like an electric violin. V good Francis.
Yeah, his tone is a bit trebly/harsh on solos. Its melodic phrasing though, usually full major or minor scale rather than your bog standard pentatonic licks.

Was really surprised to hear that, considering he's about the most famous muff user, that he has them set crazily trebly.

His plexi stacks probably even it out a bit. My Strat and Jag are really bright through any other amp, but if I crank my Marshalls with the II channel jumpered in, the only way you can get extreme brightness back out of it is with a middy-as-fuck pedal setting. I usually use a pretty harsh RAT setting or a midrange booster for solos through a plexi.

Nice demo Fran, sounds really good. I've a couple of these in stores now and they look really well made. Was the first song a Dino song? I didn't recognise it.

i hope these don't get discontinued when the new squiers come out, i'd quite like to weigh them up and see which one's best.

They may as well be discontinued. I have the money and have been waiting for a few months for one to pop up on ebay so I can buy it.

Yeah, I really do love the J Mascis, but only really because of the modded trem placement and tunomatic. I'd much rather have a Jaguar with that setup. Which the new Squiers won't deliver, although I could happily re-drill for a tunomatic at the price they're going to come in at, so... I dunno.
