Good plan. I was planning on putting teh clean boost before the main circuit, but that will work better. The first one of these I've made is almost done. Re. loudness, I figured lots of people will just use it with both controls up full, so for this first one it can do without extra boosts.
A boost before will most likely just saturate the gain stage, so you'll just have the one gain setting.
I was going to just through a Saltbooster stage in after the diodes.
Looks like there is a mistake in your layout now I look at it:
I think the Diodes should be clipping to and from ground from the end of C6.
And presumably R6 should be from that track to the Output pot.
Can you link me to the schematic you used?
C3 is wrong. the South connection should go to the base of Q1, same as R2.
Q1 and Q2 are both drawn in the wrong orientation also.

Ah damnit yes the transistor orientation is wrong on my layout- now fixed -. I didn't notice as I'd socketed them and put em in according to the schematic.
C3 does not join the connection to the base of Q1, otherwise there'd be a dot in the schematic.

Indeed. Good spot.

Fucking geniuses. Do youse actually understand those diagrams, or are youse just pretending. Might give it a go.
Isn't R2 going to end up saturating the tone stack aat C3?
Is that checkmate?

I used a 2n3904 and a 2n3906. I liked it but it didn't have enough gain and it needed a tone control.
I might try and add those things to it at some point and rebuild it. I've temporarily lost interest in the pedal building thing (largely due to having no money to buy parts), but i know I'll be back on it at some point.

good question

I've been asked this before, the answer is unfortunately that it is much cheaper for you to buy the MXR version.

What about your tremolo, how much does it cost? do you do boosters?

I do indeed do boosters, they are £40/$80 shipped or £45/$90 shipped with a tone control.
The Tremolo is £60/$120

Projects in the works:
St. Jimmy - Coupletones Fuzz
- with aggressively offensive decal'd control names.
- Fuzz-Fuck Tone-Twat Volume-Vagine Bias - Fuckwittage/Cunt
- Metallic Red paint, Blue LED.
- $90 shipped (I believe I said $80-$100? correct me if I'm wrong)
- board built, case drilled, primed and painted
Zaphod - Harmonic Perculator with Tone control
- Added tone control
- Harmonics, EQ, Balance
- Metallic Blue
- £60 shipped
- case drilled, primed and painted
Richard Zinsmann (non shortscaler)
- Green Big Muff with battery power
- Metallic Green with Green LED
- $150 shipped
Fran - switch replacement in Marshall GV-2 Guv'nor Plus
Drilled Zaphod and Jimmy's cases last night, Primed them this morning and Painted them this lunchtime.
I took a picture of Jimmy's case as I'm very happy with the CAR-a-like Peugeot Pagoda Red. Halfords don't have many Metallic Reds but it looks lovely.
With Flash
Without Flash
Zaphod's is the same blue as Fibus' COT50

I'm not a fan of CAR Guitars, but it certainly is a nice colour on a pedal. There are loads of sparklies in it.

yeah, i'm not a fan of teh sparklez on guitars either...unless it's unique kind of body style and stuff...but that pedal is fucking gorgeous. and i think the blue LED will be dope as a mothafucka.

Fran, your Guv'nor 2 arrived and I see what you mean about the switch.
A GV-2 looks like this normally:
The one Fran snagged for cheap has the washer and nut missing from the switch. Did you try and see if it works just holding and clicking it manually?
I'll have an investigate, the switch might be fine and just have unconnected wires, so that and a washer and nut might be what is needed, or I might have to replace the whole switch, I'll see when I have some time to mess with it.
