it's really become the cornerstone for my sound, there's enough drive to have crunch, more crunch and lead, using the volume pot on the guitar. it gives the fender balls, makes it sit better with my band mates ENGl halfstack.

i'll have to get you to sign and date it at doogfest for me mike.

i'm currently trying to make a new circuit for my old crybaby. using the housing from it with the a clone of the fulltone cylde wah wah or maybe a snarling dogs.

Yeah dude, I totally forgot to write "built by mike livesley" on the back of it in the hurry to get it out to you as I was so excited, will definitely scribble on it at Doogfest. The Wah project sounds exciting. I reckon they'll be fun to work on.

although i've only bought one pedal in the past 3 weeks, so i'm getting better.


i was progressively working to release an EP by the fall, but i got sidetracked with an idea for a comic strip...by the time i get that under way, school will have started back....so it doesn't look like i'll be playing gigs any time soon.

I'd be very interested to hear any music you make. See where all that sound-searching is being channeled.

You sound like me with the excuses... I move from project to project never finishing anything. It;s loads of fun, but people get antsy waiting on you.

I havent had too much of a go on it yet but I like it. In one mode it hardly has any gain and is pretty much a boost. It's hard to tell with my shitty amp, but it seems fairly close to Mike's boost. I'll A/B them a bit later and compare. In the other mode, it's still not got a lot of gain but has a lot of useable positions. Sort of varying degress of crunch. With a fair bit of gain and the tne knob low you can get a great grungey distortion. My one possible complaint is that the tone control seems a bit too trebly, it could do with 10 o clock being shifted around to 12ish, to give it a bit more useable range, but again, I can't really tell with the amp I have.

I bought it on a whim after loving the Replica delay I got from mickie. I saw a decent price for it, checked out the proguitarshop demo and decided to give it a whirl. The proguitar shop demo is fairly accurate I think. the grungey setting I mentioned is at the end of the video where hs ays it's his favourite setting, and it's the setting that sold me when I was a little hesitant.

I've had a bit of time (who am I kidding I'm unemployed. What I mean is, I stopped playing 'football manager' long enough to try it out) and I like it a lot. It's quite different from Mike's boost by does a similar job. It has a similar 'sounds so good you may as well just leave it on' quality but definitely has a different tonal response. Mike's gives my setup a bit of a low mid boost (quite wide ranging, so nothing like a hump, more 'body' or whatever you want to call it) that works quite nicely, and the Mudhoney has a bit of a mid boost a fair bit higher up.

I think my likely setup will end up being the salt boost, the mudhoney and one other dirt pedal that can do something a bit filthier, perhaps a rat or ultrafuzz. I'll probably keep my other dirt pedals but just not 'on the board'. Both of the boost pedals actually make my shitty squier amp sound fairly 'tubey'. You can't push any dirt out of that doesnt sound like the speaker about to break (both pedals have a lot of gain, the mudhoney is +15db and the salt boost I imagine similar) but the clean sounds are surprisingly with either boost engaged.

Incidentally, I'm loving Mike's boost. I'm leaving it on all the time and using it as a volume control if I'm not near the amp. I can't wait to run it through whatever amp I buy.
