Example, If you had a Boss Super Overdrive and you had an MXR Micro Amp or any kind of Booster pedal behind it, could you use the booster as a gain boost?
I'm not really familiar with booster pedals...

Booster -> Overdrive/Distortion = Gain Boost

Overdrive/Distortion -> Booster = Volume Boost and potential gain addition from overdriving the preamp of your amplifier.

An SD-1 can be used as a Booster if you keep the Gain at minimum and push up the level. It will add a chunk of midrange content though.

Thanks for the info man!
Does a Booster into an OD have a big gain boost?
I sold my Metal Zone, and I'm buying a Super Overdrive and a booster...

Depends on the pedals, but you should be pretty happy.

What booster are you thinking of buying - there's a whole lot on the market and for a simple circuit some are very overpriced.

What amplifier are you using and what sound are you going for? You may be better getting a more gainy pedal in the first place. The SD-1 is very tubescreamerish (it's a slight variation on the design, pretty much a clone), so it's got a fair midrange hump and a basscut when you wind up the Gain.

The Boss OD-3 while more expensive has a flatter response and a better bass retention.

I was looking at an Electro-Harmonix Nano LPB-1 Power Booster..
And I'm going more more of a White Stripes/Indie/Blues sound.

Hmm. Cyber Twin.

A tricky one - let me have a look into that one.

My conclusion is that you should sell your Cyber Twin and get a proper amp.

Aye, I'd have said so. They're big, fuck off solidstate modelling yokes aren't they?

Two 12AX7s in the preamp but they ain't gonna like being overdriven. If you're not liking the overdrive/distortion sounds onboard you're pretty much fucked.

You could probably sell it and get enough to get an amp more suited for what you want though, they had a few second hand ones in my local music shop for £600 a pop.
