Black Ice, and other gizmos

Anybody have one of these Black Ice Overdrives in their guitar, or ever heard one? Seemed like a nice idea, so I ordered one, but I haven't been able to find any sound samples yet...
I'd also be inerested in hearing about this Musitech Preamp,or the EMG Afterburner.
Nomally, on board fx don't really appeal to me, but I've been re-thinking - having overdrive and/or boost at the fingertips, independent of an amp
or pedal, could be very cool... If anybody has experience with these, or any similar gizmos, I'd love to hear about it! Thanks.

hahahaha! kerry king of slayer uses an afterburner. it basically puts your tone through a giant shit-funnel and proceeds to blenderize that. IT RAWKS!

also: you should get one of these:

I'm not familiar with Kerry King - by "shit-funnel" I assume you mean it sounds bad? I really don't want an EMG anything in any of my guitars, but if it worked, I'd give it a try.
The passive black ice seems cooler, tho there's no boost...

That Epi looks like it only has one pickup, what the heck do all them switches and knobbies do!?

I'm not really a fan of this black ice stuff. junking a transistor and crap into your guitar isn;t going to give you a nice overdrive sound, just buy a pedal. Even a Dano FAB Overdrive will sound better (and they are actually pretty awesome).

Thanks Mike, thing is, I have pedals. I'm interested in finding out about the types of gizmos I posted about, i.e. things
that go into the guitar directly. Anyone?

Yes, I ordered one - just wondering if anyone had any experience with them, or anything silmilar.
I'll post sounds when I get it installed. May be a while though...

right, but you need the accompanying amp, and it has no controls on it except the mains switch, so you can't use another guitar with it. and the guitar is boring without the amp.
