Custom Jag-Stang = almost complete

Hey all,

Been a while since I've posted much and even longer since I've talked bout my custom jag. At last the final parts have arrived and with luck I'll have it wired and rocking this weekend!!

Still having trouble with a wiring diagram though. Essentially it will have 2 pickups, single in neck, humbucker in bridge. Each one will have its own concentric pot for tone and volume. There will be two mustang switches, one for pickup selection and the other for coil splitting. If anyone can help draw me a wiring diagram, it would be appreciated.

Anyway, pics this weekend hopefully!

is this the same one that CROSS made, or a different one?

Custom Jag = not complete yet. :D

I think that is the one that Cross made. I know the dude is good, but if someone took that long to get something built for me, it'd better be free.

Yep its the Cross one. I recieved all the body and the neck from him yonks ago. Being a poor uni student, havent been able to afford the last electronics for about a year, so its been gathering dust.

Jesus christ man! this thing has been in the building process for like 3 fucking years! And agreed with Mezz, Cross took way too damn long to build that thing.

Well, it's about bloody time. I'm not so sure it's entirely true that you couldn't afford the parts all this time, more like you've been pushing it back. Don't tell us you're going to sell it after all this fuss!

And Custom Jag-Stang man, let's not confuse people. :)

I've worked out the mustang switch as a 3-way selector, but can't figure out how to use it as a tap. I asked these losers here on SS.org how like a month ago and got no help.

It seems ridiculously simple to do, and it only requires two positions I believe. A Mustang switch is what'd be called a DPTT switch, double pole, triple throw. Most coil split schematics are made for DPDT, so you're getting more versatility with the Mustang switch.

I'm figuring it out now, I'LL SOON POST RESULTS.

OK, I was right, it is really simple.

Excuse the quality. This uses Seymour Duncan colour coding, for a translation see here.

Image

The wire on the right that comes out is to either the individual volume pot of the pickup, or if it's on a selector it goes to that position. It's basically the main wire. The green wire and grey are your ground, and so a wire should go from that to your ground point. The two black diagonal wires are to join the terminals obviously. In the up position it's like normal, in the middle position it's two parallel singles, and in the bottom position you get single single coil goodness.

Enjoy Shad. Fuck you Aug.

Your post had the WRONG KIND OF SWITCH. Your diagram that you stick is USELESS to anybody wiring a mustang.

Icey's retarded. Since when did I not like Seymour Duncan, just because I defended GFS? That means I don't think we should pick on GFS, not that we should only use GFS. Fine, don't read my posts and ignore me.

Icey, I imagine you've wired up your Jag-Stang all wrong. Seymour Duncan's diagram is for a DPDT switch, Mustangs use DPTT switches. What's more, my diagram only adds one wire to that. Hardly confusing shit that is mate.

You tell him Shad.
