it's got some kind of cover and the wire comes out of the middle? mine is made like a full-size open-coil bucker, with tape around the coils. the wire comes off the treble side of the bobbin, which was great for sticking it in my jaguar... anyone know if this new wire positioning would pose any jaggie problems (the pickups/route of a jag aren't v-shaped like a strat/stang pickup), or is there enough room to squeeze it between the body/pickup underneath?

dots, penpen, were your JB Jr's like the one in the picture or the older style?

Mine is as pictured. I might as well go ahead and speak for dots too, since my JB Jr was his, so

Mr DOTS: YES MY PUP WAS JUST LIKE THE ONE PICTURES.

Honestly, I have no idea how it was before, but I liked how simple it was, and no open coil for me to fuck up. At first I was put off by how tall it was, but in the end it worked out for the best and got a TON of output in the bridge of my Jag, where before it was really weak. And yeah, there's plenty of room for the wires, don't worry about that.

thanks dude, good to know about you and dots' pickup being the same and about the wires. basically i'm thinking of trying to FINALLY track down a white JB Jr. (i couldn't find one 9 years ago) to put in my jag.

i don't have any qualms with the new construction, i actually dig the cover. i was just wondering about the wire issue mainly and the cover was new to me.

i've owned both kinds, and both were in my jag at one point or another. my first sd mini hb was a black, old stylee, lil screamin demon that i got many years ago, and i put it in my jagstang. it then moved to my mustang where it stayed until several months ago before selling it. imagine my surprise when i ordered up a white screamin demon for my jag and it came in looking like the one pictured in the first post. it was awesome and fit well in the jag, but i was stupid and tried to put a pickup claw on it. fucked up the wire. ordered a blues something or other, but i didn't like the lower output. then i put in a lil 59, and it's been there since. i was going to upgrade back to a screamin demon till the hh jag deal came along. so now, not only do i have a screamin demon in new stylee, but i've got a lil 59 in old school steez as i am restoring the av jag back to s-s configuration.

very long story short, they all rock the same. i think the newer ones prolly get less noise, but i haven't noticed a difference.

good deal, thanks for the info. hope your HH jag and stock jag setup works out nicely.
i'm gonna stick a new white jb jr in my jag so it has a cover and matches the other pickup a little better. the new style looks a little more solid at the sides, probably wont' have as much room to wiggle back and forth like mine. and it'll look more stock even though it'll be exactly the same, i'm happy with the sound.

I just replaced the pickups in my strat with S.D. Antiquity's. I pulled out a Little 59, a Duckbucker and a JB Jr. which I'll be putting on eGay soon. If anybody is interested, let me know. By the way, they're the old style with the tape around the outside.

Wow, you had like the three main minibuckers in one Strat?

I'm interested in the JB Jr, I'm intending to put single'd Robroe pickups in my Jag-Stang and a JB Jr would be nice in the bridge. Just let me know prices etc.
