Teh Mouse that ROARED

This is what I did last night when my orange guitar collapsed under the weight of my teetering expectations. ROAR might be overstating it, but I may pull the single coil and put in a SD Lil 59.

I decided not to DRILL the 73 Tele body for a Bigsby bridge, so I had one laying around. But people only put them on their prized King Size guitars and nobody would ever give a second look to a Musicmaster. Until now. It was sitting there radiating a blue green HAVOC. Sure. Why not put a Bigsby on the world's flimsiest, neck pup guitar? It's got the space for it. (I haven't committed to it yet, but it sure looks good).

This is not the Mez MM. This one actually has only ONE pup slot like the one Aug just made. It also happens to be the heaviest shortscale body I have EVAR seen. I took a lot of pics to try to capture the green. You can only see glimpses of it in the top right photo. It's like staring into the nearby lake and seeing the submerged EYE of the Loch Ness monster.

Bigsby FTW.

The bridge doesn't look right, but maybe it'd look better once it's all rigged up.

I actually got that bridge as a modern replacement for an older model Duo. It has the holes in back for top lpoading.

I WAS THIS CLOSE to reconsidering putting the Bigsby on the Tele. I mean, that's what I really want, right? But The Tele is arguably better to leave as is. It's a vintage Tele with modern guts. A purist might not like it, but it's not nothing.

So on a Tele it could affect the value, but a 79 MM doesn't have much value. It's got nowhere to go but UP. It's the Charlie Brown xmas tree.

In my most humble opinion, it not only should be done, but must be done.

Does this trem unit bolt directly to the face of the body or is considerable routing required ?

How difficult would it be to recover back to a plain MM body or is this a one way trip ?

Here's the feed I was looking for. Oh hell yeah!

The holes of the new bridge are slightly off the old. I could use one of them, but it would mean that the bridge would be 2-3mm too low. :) So I can drill new holes, which can always be filled in later. The Bigsby itself needs 5, but maybe this thing is never coming off. It's a correct period vintage Bigsby too, so it could be as if it has always been there (like Jack in The Shining). It is a much better mod than I would have had to do to the Tele since I would have had to install a Mustang bridge (with cups) because this one would be too large. The MM has nothing but room, and the blue black combo makes it look like a bludgeon already--very David Cronenberg, like Rosanna Arquette in a leg brace.
