This is the one you have aye? The one Rivers had at one point too?
To be honest, I've always liked it, and I remember liking the samples last time I heard them (that might have even been back in JS times).
For a second I thought the seller was gary(0) and thought for a moment "oh dear, the poor thing is fucked."
On the watch list, and I'd seriously considering bidding. What's a fair price for one of these? I'm guessing it's going to be a bit more than what i was planning on spending on a JCM800, but I can live with that. We talking £500ish? Maybe a bit more?

Only one in completed listings went for £560, that seems pretty much in line with what I remember from when I last looked them up on there.

They go for between £400-£580 as I recall, so £560 is on the top end and seeing as it's his first ebay auction you might be able to get it for cheaper than that as bidding might be down.
If you've ever liked guitar sound on anything I've done in the studio then you;ll love the 6100. I made a demo of it I can dig out for you but my mic placement wasn't great so it's not really representative. Rest assured that it is a great sounding amp and has that Marshall 800esque roar to boot in Crunch mode B. Crunch mode A gives you a lovely SuperLead/Plexi style breakup tone, and teh Clean channel is wonderful.
Rivers played this for years and years live and I'm pretty sure it's on Pinkerton - he used to to replicate the Blue album tones live which I think is a glowing endorsement - as I recall that was MarkIV's in the studio which have shitty clean tone.
In short - you should totally do it. Basically it and the JVM are the best Marshall's I've played (seperate EQs and voiced channels? Yessir!) and the 6100 is a hell of an amp. If I wasn't so finicky abvout having 6 different sounds at a footswitch I'd still be playing it as my number 1 amp, and as you know I'll never sell mine as it's so great.

I could afford to put £450 down on one I think. That's sort of the area I'm hoping to get a JCM800 for, which seems doable if I wait it out a bit.
A little off topic, but I've noticed that some Ampeg amps go for £300-400, so i'm getting tempted to go for one of those. If I check the prices enough first, at the worst I'd lose postage costs by selling it back on ebay.

Don't really know anything about Ampeg amps I'm afraid.
Anyways, watch this one with interest.

I also saw a Peavey Windsor in a local shop (I say local, its in the next town), but I was with my sister and there was no chance of her waiting around whilst I played it. It was positioned in the narrow doorway, in front of the counter, so to play it it was going to have to be moved and hooked up somewhere else too. I really doubt I'd get one, but if I'm over there soon I'll give it a go. It was £379 if I recall correctly.

You should at least play it, mate. I've heard great things... £379 is about right.

Well unexpectedly buying an Ibanez Artist means that I'm out of the 6100L game.
I could maybe stretch to this, but I'd be broke for about a month and a half. I wouldnt be able to get a cab either. If you're interested john, you should go for it.

They make great bass amps but I've never played through their guitar amps before.

Bob wants a Marshallish dirt monster like a JCM800 - not a clean amp.

Aye, thought it was worth an enquiry though. I didnt expect them to be ideal, but was sort of hoping they could be a bit of a mystery gem.

Oooooh, I've put a bid in, menial at the moment, obviously, but thought I might as well 'cause there's no way it'll go for £50, not sure how much I'll go up to though if I put in any more 0_o
