Best Fuzz Pedal Ever - an absolutist, empirical question.

What is the bar-none, most perfect, indisputably best fuzz pedal ever made by anyone ever?
I'd vote for the Harmonic Percolator - super touch sensitive, and a great driving tone that stays reasonably clear.

I ask because I'm designing fuzzes for myself and a friend - right now I'm toying with combining a HP and a Bazz Fuss, probably with a knob to blend or cascade the two. For mine, I'll probably do a HP with a Stab control, then add a clean blend.

So yes, bring on the arguments, because we will settle this debate once and for all.

maybe it's a great fuzz, or your favorite but best fuzz ever is kinda an outlandish statement.

There are so many other more well known classic fuzz pedals, available to everybody, played on thousands of records.

Have you ever even seen a real Harmonic Percolator in person, chances are no.

and my idea of a great "FUZZ" isn't something that stays reasonably clear and drives. Fuzz is an abitrary description and lots of people find "Fuzz" in boxes that are considered distortions like Rats but whatever, to each his own.

It's supposed to be an outlandish statement - It's much more fun to have pointless arguments then just to ask for fuzz suggestions for the umpteenth time.
I use a homemade harmonic percolator now - the originals are just way too rare and variable to be useful anymore. I'm friends with the guys at Rockhaus who built the first batch of NOS reissues after Ed Geise died, and they all have originals. I also go to school a couple miles from Chuck Collins' shop - haven't stopped in yet, though. I'm a little biased on the HP since it's sort of the home-town hero, but it really is a fantastic fuzz.

I'm building a Fuzz Factory for next to peanuts, they seem pretty versatile, and good for making a load of noise.

It's more like a fuzzy distortion really, although you can get some slightly gated-squashy proto-fuzz stuff going on with the Gate control. I miss mine :(

I'm probably gonna build a FF clone too, Tweez sorted me out with the schem.
