i am thinking of trading guitars with a friend. his is a peavey raptor, and mine is a squier strat. he's gonna give me more than just the guitar, to make it an even trade. if this actually goes through, im gonna try my hand at converting it to a fretless gutiar. any tips?

yes. Look up Dan Erlewine on google and get his guitar player repair guide. It'll show you how to properly remove frets with little/to no damage to the fret board...(so that when you change your mind about going fretless, you can reinstall some frets.)

i did it to a tele neck.
i replaced the slots with maple and blood wood.
if i ever want to take the peices out all i have to do it put an iron up to it and watch the glue melt.
i say go for it.
but keep this in mind, i think the the neck kinda has to be flat, and the action kinda high, im thinking that nylon strings would actually sound better and feel but im not sure yet.
