Ultra goes Ultra.

Post by ultratwin »

Yopps, I followed the Doog demo down the rabbit hole and picked up a Zoom Ultra Fuzz. I knew there were a few sitting around at the massive music mart over here, but had no idea that people hadn't caught on to how cool it is. The shop owner knows me fairly well and wanted to get rid of the thing, so I ended up taking a new one home for no spectacular price of about $85. That's still cheap, as everything from Japan is usually about 15~20% more than what it costs over there, and the box had it marked at the "normal" $125.

A zillion sounds, sounds pretty nasty(in a good way) on bass, and I'm really liking this thing. I know it's not much of a deal, but if anyone else wants a brand new Zoom Ultra Fuzz in the box, they've got at least one more of them in stock that I could pick up and drop off with one of the ss bunch while in SoCal this March.

As for me, I'm gonna have Suhyun at Moollon drill up a spare aluminum EQ case and spray an insane color graphic to properly express it's coolness. Viva Zoom for getting analog done right.

Yay!

I mainly use mine after my RAT2 as a volume boost or for some sooper-buzzy GATE'd fun.

Yar, and light picking with gate up a bit + modulation/delay is alien frequency lovesong magic!

Awesome!

I loved Doog's demo, it was dead good. Guy needs to make more.

And the Zoom PD-1 Power Drive James lent me to demo was ace too, those pedals are frigging great. Really solid, consistent and well made. If you get it rehoused that would be immense.

I had that pedal, and fried it with an AC adapter before I got smart on that stuff.

Tempting but I don't need one.
