I'm seriously considering one as a bedroom amp, it seems like too big of a bargain.

don't those have a solid state pre-amp?

Looks cool. 2 x 6v6 is like a double-Champ. The Blues Jr. I've played is plenty loud at 15 Watts through 2 EL84's, so this should be To The Bedroom... And Beyond! I like the 6v6 better overall.
That single 12ax7 is probably the preamp, the same as in the old Champs. But all the effects are going to be solid-state.

oh yeah, it's solid state overdrive. why would you want that from a tube amp?

I think by effects he meant the DSP in the chorus/reverb/tremolo/phaser/delay section.
I played one today, we just got them in my store yesterday. The tube tone is great, and fender hails it as "all-tube". Even if the "preamp tube characteristic knob" turns out to be a load of solid state crock, you can still use it as a single-volume-knob 15 watt straight tube amp on channel 1. It sounds pretty killer either way. After I buy some more important gear, this thing's next on my list.

Dunno. Though that may not be a bad thing when the preamp & power amp are tube still. Like going through solid-state dirt pedals into a tube amp.

I want to call it the Fender Emoticon.
I'm probably going to buy one. Or this.
Hard choice... that one's even CHEAPER, but no knobs
WHY won't fender reissue silverface cosmetics btw...

Probably because they think everybody hates silverface. After all that's been said to against silverface amps in favor of blackface, right or wrong.... I think nowadays people are starting to value silverface amps, but I doubt Fender will catch on for a while. Who knows, they're already re-issuing 70's guitars with the 3-bolt nex that were supposed to be so awful until they became "vintage".

It's junk.
it's not all tube. The super champ has a phase inverter and two power tubes. The Vibro just a power tube. Fender even markets it saying they removed preamp tubes because they're troublesome. What the fuck ever.
Any overdrive you hear at non-flat-out volume is solid-state clipping. The preamp voicing control is whackola and any of the non Fender "voicings" are shithouse.
For my money a Vox Valvetronix AD30VT is far superior.

The Fender Champ sounds good, the normal, beigey one.
Probably not that useful for gigs, and you will notice the limitations of a six inch speaker, but it still sounds well.

That's teh Champion 600.
The original Champ was all tube and there was also a Vibro-Champ. They're great old amps. They should have reissued them instead of this bobbins.

Yes. You're confusing matters.
You could work for Fender with that skill.

Perhaps I do.
What are you saying?

You're being a pillock. I'm done with you in this thread.

In fairness, I wasn't sure if there were seperate models as the champ and the champion, so I made a point of saying I was talking about the beige one. You pointed this out, and my comment that followed was meant as a way of asking you for more information, so as to clarify. Then you accused me of confusing matters, and I replied with a fairly neutral comment, continuing from your assertion that I could work for Fender. Then you called me a pillock.
I'm sorry if all this makes me a pillock, but I'm not convinced it does.
