Effects Loop weirdness...

So I decided that I wanna start running my Whammy and RV-3 in stereo. My Mesa/Boogie (Studio Preamp, in case that helps...) has a stereo Effects Loop, so this works out perfectly. I seem to be having some trouble with it though... I hooked everything up (I made sure I used my best cables, 2 of em are brand new and one is a few years old, but it's in great shape) and now I get TONS of excess hum from my Drive Zone as well as horrid volume loss when it's switched on. Everything I have is almost completely silent when I switch them on (Big Muff, Drive Zone, Fuzz Factory) when running the chain directly into the input... and then in the FX Loop it all becomes completely useless due to the noise and volume drop.

Anyone have any ideas as to what may be the problem?

Come on... 24 views and not a single suggestion? Damn guys... either you're slipping or my FX loop is fucked to hell. haha

Does not know.

Maybe if it's a tube-driven FX LOOP, then the tube(s) are not doing too well?

That's always a possibility... I don't recall it having extra tubes inside though. It's got 4 12AX7's in it, and that's it as far as I know. Too bad you can't find a decent fucking users manual anywhere... I've checked every search engine I can think of...

Take all the distortion/fuzz pedals out of your effects loop and run them through the front. Effects loops notoriously don't handle them well, they work best with modulation and the like. Try running only your whammy and rv-3 through the loop and see if it helps.

I'll give that a shot man. Thanks! That's gonna make my tangled web of cables even worse though. haha But I'll definitely try it.

Hmm, well 1st off the
WHAMMY should always be FIRST in your CHAIN!

2. Comp after Whammy helps smooth out FX.

3. Bypass that biatch if ya can.. they are tone suckers.

4. noisegate after fuzz?
