Hey guys,

I havent been talking about it lately, but we are VERY close to releasing our Superfuzz reproduction, based on the late 60's Shin-Ei Superfuzz.

here are some pictures:

Heres our Shin Ei SuperFuzz:

Our Prototype in the hammond brick:

our first circuit board (etched and screened ourselves):

traces (they will be tinned on production models):

aaaaand here are two oscilloscope plots that show the waveforms from the Shin Ei and Wattson Superfuzz, superimposed over each other. same settings.

Tone switch position 2:

and the most important thing of all, soundclips!!!

side by side comparison:

i played guitar on those tracks, and yeah i didnt play any leads cuz i cant play leads very well. haha. however, we are having latin fusion guitar extrodinair Tom Duarte come over this friday to record some awesome sound clips in all sorts of settings and stuff. those clips should be able to highlight the octave up much better.

when we are ready, we are going to be sending out the specs to the fab house to manufacture the circuit boards, and to the metal shop thats doing our chassis. we are still tweaking the chassis design, and there may be a slight adjustment to the circuit layout, but other than that we are very close to releasing this pedal to the public and i am SO excited.

let me know what you guys think.

NEET! Will check the sondz out at lunch-o time-o.

We need someone who can make amps now, then we could have a SHORTSCALE DOT ORG line of gear! :D

i listened and tone 1 was spot on. tone 2 (which i prefer) was a little different, but i prefer y'alls version.

thanks. tone 2 is a little thinner on ours, but we might mess with some cap values in that stack. we'll see.

not yet, i had to go pick up my stinking car from the garage. MOT failure, £350 worth of work needs doing. fuck's sake.

Tone1 is spot on.

Tone2 noticeably lacking in bass, but you can see the waveforms are different for that anyway, it's doing some odd glitchy stuff. Weird.

The same sort of vibe is still there though.

thanks. yeah tone 2 is lacking in bass a little, but it seems to sound different on different speakers. its closer on the speakers at my house and at the studio, but through the amp you can tell. we are gonna work on some cap values and stuff. thanks for listening and the feedback mike!

No worries, looks like a really professional design & build. I'm sure they'll sell like hotcakes.

thanks. we are hoping. we put a lot of time and research into getting this thing right. i mean, we are even going as far as to try and replicate the case (albiet with a better design) so it can invoke the nostalgia of a classic pedal.

we are also pretty excited and certain that we are going to keep the price point low enough that everyone will be able to get one.

I would sell it in Hammond Boxes aswell. Just as many people will be interested in a more neat, small solution as a Retro case I think.

I much prefer silver boxes anyways, more mysterious..

yeah we have already had people asking about having them in a brick. its a possiblity. the cost may not be justified. i think more people would like the classic looking case. we shall see. if we get enough people asking about it, it would make sense to do a run. the only roadblocks right now are cost.

WOAH! awesome. i like to think of it as a reproduction rather than a clone. the idea was to get the tone as spot on as possible.

how do you like the sound?

That sounds awesome. Agreed with tone 2 lacking bass, hope you get that sorted. I'd love to buy one of these :)
