old bigsby, new trick

Post by robert(original) »

well its not really a bigsby, and its not really a new trick at all.
last saturday i ripped the incredibly dead strings off of tracys washburn j-3 archtop and decided to try putting the old epi bigsby styled trem on.
at first i thought i would run into the same problem as the og body, and that is, not having enough of a break angler over the bridge for it to be effective.
well, it works out perfectly and stays in tune like a gem!
funny thing is, all of the screw holes lined up perfectly except for one!
it has been sitting around with this trem on it for 3 full days and tracy has not noticed at all, we are having practice tonight so hopefully she will notice it and be like "OOOHHHH, AAAAHHHH!"
but i bet she will get flustered and ask me to change it back,
i think it looks rather small on the body but i like it much more than the HUGE "W" trapeze piece that was on it originally.

The wangbar isn't really long enough to use comfortably.

Aye. I like the fact that it looks so small though. I don't usually like bigsbys because of their bigness.

Just replace the arm on the bigsby and you'll be in business.

its actually in a ver comfy spot, when i picked it up and started with it, it was pretty normal feeling, you gotta remeber that is 17" body and it a full size archtop so anything will look small on it.
