I bought one off donko.

I loved it right up until I lost the power lead, and they cost fort quid or something to replace, and I've never got round to it.

Shame.

I have a late 90's XP-100 whammy/wah, and so does Hurb (built into his XP multibox) they're pretty good... It's like a Whammy II (the mid 90's little black one) with wah/autowah and volume pedal added.

The Whammy IV is fuck-off expensive, it's mojo-priced by now of course. Do not reccomend unless you can get it for less than $150 used.

Oh dude, totally worth it. I suppose the best thing about whammy pedals is that everytime someone like Tom Morello or Jack White creates a surge of interest in it, there's a crapload of kids who buy one and realize they have no idea how to use it effectively on their own (without just playing My Iron Lung over and over in their room), so there are always plenty of used ones about. I've never seen them go for as low as that though.

No experience with the Micro Pog, sorry.

Completely different beasts man. I use BOTH! The Pog is far more prettier with its awesome tracking while the Whammy's glitches alot, but they sound really cool to me. I love the harmony/detune features on it.

see the thing is, i dont know if i can justify the whammy because im not sure if i would use it a ton, i figure i would get more use out of the micro pog, i just dont know...

I wouldn't ditch the PS-5 for a Whammy, it can do all the Whammy can apart from the 5 octaves down DIVEBOMB thing.

I remember expecting that to sound really shit and gimmicky, but it's actually useful enough for sounds that sort of come out of no where.

I used the Digitech Whammy to make crazy chord changes on the J Mascis demo. Tis fun.

word of warning on the whammy II. they are very fragile inside.

the one i had would get crackly due to stage vibration, and since it was in circuit all the time ,i would get loud static through my amp every time the drummer would kick the kick drum.

turned out the problem was loose solder joints in a little circuit board inside. i would resolder and reinforce, but it would go bad in a couple of weeks of gigging.
