Lead I

Anyone got any experience of these (or the II or III). Seems you can put the pickups out of phase like a mustang, any ideas on scale length too. I'm not going to buy it, i'm skint and its in the states and i can't be arsed. I could get a cij jazzy for that after all. Just curious really.

the leads are cool, but $700 seems like an awful lot for it.

Aye, and the colour scheme's quite shocking too. If i was looking i'd want two single coils too. Dunno guess a little part of my wants to find an obscure little thing that people will rave about in a decade

also, some of the very first g&l guitars are pretty cool. they've got one that is very mustang-esque. i forget what it's called.

They're dogs. I don't know why anybody gives two shits about them apart from the fact that you don't see them often, kinda like how girls are with my accent until they realize I'm boring as fuck.

Eric Clapton's Lead II was the first guitar ever aquired by the Hard Rock Cafe, before they did the whole memorabillia thing. They hung it on the wall, and Pete Townshend sent one of his famous numbered LPs a few weeks later with a note "mine's as good as his" and it all launched from there.

The SC-2? There's the SC-1 and SC-3 too, the number denotes the number of pickups it has.

My drummer's dad-in-law had one of these which I used to use at practice now and then, it werent' very nice though (possibly due to neglect).

Had a bit of a scout about. The prices i've seen range from about $400-$1000 (400 wouldn't be too bad, only going to rise in value too). The single pickup model looks pretty cool, there's definately a hint of this about it.

i reckon lake placid blue or darker, matching headstock and that would piss all over any fender student model bar a mustang.

Are these 24 inch scale? or are they 25.5? They look damn cool!

fuck yes Burma! Roger Miller was rocking a Lead I through a 50w Marshall combo when i saw their farewell tour back in ... 1 9 8 3 (yes, i am old as shit). Probably what made him go deaf for a while.

As for the G&L -- anytime you see an LP jr. pickguard on an SC-1, there's a 99.9% probability that the guitar is owned by Robert Poss of Band of Susans.

Music Man Sabre

Found this. Dirt cheap and with a change of pickups someone could have themselves a phat guitar. Not a bad take on the lead design either.
