Pedal questions and queries...

So, I've got myself a new pedal board, and wondered what would be the generic configuration for the pedals I have... and what benefits differences occur when you change things around ??

What I plant use at the moment...

Dist channel (footswitch)

Sansamp GT2 (dist)

Vox Distortion booster

Marshall Echoehead Delay

Ibanez Flanger

Also is there anyone here that people send there pedals to, to have them serviced with the odd bit of rewiring etc, or is there anyone that can recommend someone in the London area who deals with the electronic side of equipment, also need an amp lookin at... ? I need a complete rock steady setup... I'm fed up with things not working and letting me down.

thanks in advance
O

Normal would be

amp<-delay<-flanger<-dirt<-boost<-guitar

But play about. I happen to like flanger before dirt. and also delay before dirt can be fun. The only problem being if yo have a noisey pedal(hiss etc) and put in front of a dirt pedal the noise will be louder when the dirt pedal is on. so playing about is the only way.

DELAY BEFORE MODULATION. ANYTHING ELSE IS WRONG.

Actually, the opposite is true, and Shadow is trying to trick you.

Yeah, it's all personal preference, do you want the boost to make your sound more dirty or louder?

I'd have it like amp <-flanger <-delay <-boost <-dirt <-geetbox since I'd probably want to boost the volume for leads.

Flanger after delay?

I would, that way you get more natural sounding swooshes over the delayed stuff, rather than the same "portion" of swoosh repeated over and over. If you get me.

I use this right now:

Amp < Boss DD-20 w/Tap < Fuzz Factory < Boss OD-20 < Digitech Whammy < Guitar with my amp distortion footswitch between the Drive Zone (OD-20) and the Fuzz Factory.

i honestly never put much thought into pedal order, though i suppose i should. right now, i'm not using any pedals, except the amp's channel switch.

guitar=>compressor=>overdrive=>distorto=>volume=>delay=>amplifier (reverb & trem on amp)

So the compressor can be used as a boost to increase overdrive, the volume pedal doesn't affect the dirt box drive, and the delay echoes any volume sweeps for spacey fun. It's nice to have the trem last, to chop everything and anything it gets, without the swells/chops affecting overdrive or getting duplicated into semi-microchops by the delay.

As for the original question... I don't know what the Vox pedal does exactly, but I might place it first. Possibly put the flanger before the delay. Everything else the same. Which kinda lines up with some of the other responses.

Tuner at the end?! Dont you have to turn all the other pedals off before it starts working?! why not have it at the start??

(ive never owned a stage pedal-based tuner, so just curious)

i don't like compression unless it's like bad metal or NOFX punk.

NOFX=compression, EQ, Metal Zone=IRONY
