Superficial mods to my Jaguar HH

Hey,

I decided I was getting tired of that ugly tarnished black anodizing that was on my HH's metal control parts. I'm sure it looked alright when it first came to the shop, but the time I bought it used the stuff was looking pretty gnarly. I was originally considering buying some replacement chrome parts, but damn that would be an expensive mod that doesn't do anything.

I found this at my parent's house:

With some time and elbow grease, the tarnish gradually came off. I might do this for the bridge piece and the tuners, but they aren't nearly as bad. I also replaced the knobs with some normal jag knobs.

I thought this might be helpful for anyone that wants to remove anodized crap from their metal parts. And I love an excuse to post pictures. :D

I really do think the guitar looks a lot better now. This thing was a steal now that I think about it... $450 out the door, I'm guessing they didn't realize that the previous owner had installed Seymour Duncans in it.

Possible future mods to this guitar:
-repaint, possibly in white
-new pickguard
-change 500K pots to 1Meg
-possible install jaguar tremolo
-new nut

awsome!
it does look really nice.
i agree, you should most definitly put a jaguar trem in that thing.
i kinda dig the black with matching stock, i think it would cool if you just got a diff pg.
like..... cream..... yeah.... cream.....

Just so you know, this guitar is actually a dark blue color. But I agree, a new pickguard is definitely in order.

white/cream PG and a jag trem have always been a fantasy of mine to get with a jag HH

The new normal-jag type knobs that you put on look way better than those weird metal knobs that come standard with the HH.

I've been thinking of getting an HH Jag, because it would be cheaper than shipping in a regular CIJ jag from ebayland, and I can't afford an AVRI. Plus I'd get to try-before-I-buy. And I love the black-on-black look with matching headstock. But if I do that it would be to eventually convert it to a more standard Jag setup. I assume swapping the pickups to Jag single coils should be pretty easy, but would a standard Jag/Jazzy trem and floating bridge work? I'm sure that there would be some serious wood surgery required. Would it be better/easier if I just slapped on a Bigsby?

i bet converting it into a more standard jag would be more than the cost or a cij

True. But it would also be more fun.

Plus, I only ever see CIJ's in candy apple red, or sunburst, neither of which I particularly like on a jag. I trust my soldering skills more than my painting skills!
