New Guitar Line by Godin
Dorchester
This is like equal parts Mosrite and Ric rip off. It has lace Alumitones, a pickup I've always been interested in but have never seen anybody use.

I was doing tons of browsing because I wasn't posting on any boards. I usually skim other boards, but the fact Shortscale was down left me bummed and feeling like an epic fail had happened.
I think besides the users here, the content and info we share in threads is important. Losing a bunch of posts sucks big time. This time the damage was minimized but I really think having a good archive of threads is what makes a forum good.

These are way cooler looking than most of Godin's designs, which tend to be watered-down copies of fenders and/or gibsons.
They're quality instruments, though. I have a friend that used to work for them, so I've had the chance to play a few.

Yep, the top two look good - I'd kinda favour at least one f-hole on the fireglo, maybe.
They've all got an actual retro (as in cheapish guitars available in the UK in the late 60s-early 70s) look about 'em. But nicer.
Yep, I'm that old.
I even remember Bell's catalog.

Necrobump. Anyone ever play one of these? Sadly no Godin dealers near me to try out, but they've come out with several new models since the original post, and I'm intrigued by all of them.

Not like I need another guitar, but the white Empire is sexy, different than your typical LP-style. Love the Dorchester w/ Bigsby too. If you listen to the sound clips though, I think that's my least favorite of the bunch.

I've got a richmond empire, GREAT guitar. I had the humbucker/single model, traded the pickups for some tv jones t-armonds, the routs are big enough to accommodate either. It's a bolt neck, but really well worked, and the unfinished neck is a dream to play...

I have a Godin LGX-SA
It's a really nicely made instrument and everything has been thought out well.
Nice pickups, LR Baggs system, great finish, good weight, fast neck but not super thin etc
I never pick it up though. It is a good guitar but it is not great.
Their hollow bodies are properly awesome though

Yeah, the Empire is a standard model, can be had for around $500 brand new. Seems like a steal when you consider 1) it's not made in an Asian sweat shop and 2) it's much cooler than anything Epiphone, Ibanez, Schecter, etc. have put out in recent years.

I feel the same way about all of the LG series, well made, but sort of boring in a clinically sterile kind of way. I feel like these Richmond models wouldn't have that problem. They look to be worlds different from their core models, anyway.

the model is standard, the pickups aren't BUT i called up godin and told them i wanted to swap pickups, and they sent me out a pickguard from the p90 model for $40. I can't say enough good things about the guitar or the company, it really is a no brainer considering i got that guitar for $300 used iirc, and it is built in canada. fuck an prs SE

I really dig the beveled pickguard around the volume knob on finboy's. Nice touch.
