in search of a new amp

so i just bought a new guitar, and as my amp is still a meager vox pathfinder reverb, the next thing i'll be looking for is a new amp.
i was just wondering if you guys know of any good lesser- known fender or fender-style amps that have a lot of headroom, take pedals well, are tube, and can be had on the cheap.
i've been thinking about snatching up a silverface showman on the bay when i have enough money, but was just wondering if anyone knows of anyhting different.

Silverface Bassmans are probably the cheapest. What's yr budget?

I'll probably spend about 500-600 tops on the head.
but yeah, that's what i was thinking-silverface bassman or showman.

silverface twins can be found anywhere and deals can be had around $600.
