I don't have any pics for you, but I once saw one with a black pick guard, and it looked sexxxy as hell.

i've got a dakota red 65 ri (just got it about a week ago in fact)
however, it has the pearloid pickguard.
and it's sexy as hell.
trust me, give it a chance, it's not really the white pearloid you'd expect.

pearl back then seems to have been more subtle, the pearl guards nowadays are such bright white that they clash with nearly anything...

yeah it's pretty dark.
i was expecting it to be that bright white color, but it's really cool, almost a brownish white.

Is Kurt's a comp? This is mine.... Just wondering what other options, maybe a solid slightly aged white....Dunno, maybe just leave it and throw a nice set of Pu's

dare i say mint?
i think with dakota red it only looks right with a mother of pearl guard or a mint guard, the roseland stang is also very cool tho.

i will stand behind that statement.
singles work better in the stand(personal opinion) and sounds cooler with the phase switches.

I do like prefer single coils, but it would be cool to have the option.

It wouldn't though. It would suck balls.

It's true.

That would be a wack thing to do to such a nice guitar. Just get a single coil sized SD hum if you must.

also mustangs were designed at a time when fender didn't make humbuckers and aftermarket pickups weren't really available.
unless you're talking about the reissues, in which case i'm gonna have to side with hurb and mike. the world doesn't need that many kurt fanboys.

One is tiresome enough, after all.

Why get the '65 RI if you were just going to tear it up? It's designed to be as og as possible, right down to that pickguard gap. You should have sacrificed a '69 RI at the alter of lame pickup choices.

Nothing to do with Kurt, didnt even know he had humbuckers on his... I like playing clean tones single coil and distorted ones with a humbucker. But Im not routing mine for a humbucker, I just made the comment as I have the Cyclone guard loaded.

You're just not doing it right.

I used to be that way, but now I adore the attack and dynamics you get from a single coil bridge pickup, it's fit.
