Is that an ashtray tail piece? Interesting.

Trans-blue isn't automatically epic fail, just usually.

Funny thing, I just inherited a guitar and I've got some options to buy a couple busted guitars for cheap. One of them is a hagstrom:

Looks like the inside is a bit rusty. Could you guys take a look and LMK if you think that's fixable. I'm sure the memphis is, but would there be any problem cleaning out the rust inside the Hogstram? I'd love to fix it up.

Thanks guys.

Anything is fixable - the Hag looks pretty straight forward. Looks like just some missing hardware.

cool. What's the best way to clear out that rust on the inside? I've never had the need before.

There's no rust inside it. Wood and paint don't rust. Are you sure you don't mean the shielding? Photo it and post it here, there's a wealth of experience with old Hags on this forum.

Not IMHO. I quite like trans blue on flame top. Call me undiscerning if you like. I quite like flame maple and trans colours, though I'm not keen on black and brown.

Ugly as fuck, sort of finish PRS or Hamer would go for.

you'd think Hagstrom would make something more along the lines of Eastwood guitars rather than Buttrock clones...

Do they expect people to be attracted by the name on the headstock? or ignore it?

Oh, so you think that's actually just the wood showing through where the paint's coming off inside? Maybe it's a darker wood or something. I just assumed it was rust cuz I also saw similar color red stuff at the base of the knobs but maybe that's just the way they look. I've never seen the inside of an electric look like that, but I guess it could just be paint coming off the wood.

If I still don't know when I get it, I'll post some closeup picks. Either way it's rockin' tho. I can't wait to fix that bad-boy up.

maybe it's rust, maybe not, doesn't really matter, the guitar is not going to rust away. just slap some pickups and hardware on there and play it.

I was just trying to figure out what hardware I'll need to replace. If it were rust, I might need to replace the electronics in it as well (if they rusted out). I'll just wait till I have it in-hand and figure out what needs to be done.

The new Hagstroms are quite cool starting points for projects, especially with all the factory seconds flooding ebay...

Damn I wish i knew what brand of paint he used. It's from the same place where they painted a vintage Hagstrom in the same color purple, in Upstate NY.

The purple is great, way better than the reddish junk Fender used on the J Mascis Jazzmaster.

You were right... it's just wood dust and where paint's come off. I posted pics in a new topic of it.
