Mustang staggered or flat pole piece pickups?

should i use staggered or flat pole piece pickups in my 1965 RI Mustang?

I have a staggered pickup on the neck pos. on my 65 RI that I flattened just so the Robroe covers fit. Now its staggered at the bottom

I think you should get flat poles, like the originals. With staggarded, you could just push em down, but you risk the chance of breaking the pickup. If you are going to buy one, then just right one from the begining.
Alnico Pro II's are my favorites. They sound amazing.

What kind of covers are you planning on using? If you get regular covers you can go with staggered, if you keep the stock you should get a flat. Only reason I flattened mine was cuz I already had the PU and it's such a nice sounding one that I had to put it on the Mustang. So the option is always there tho'

if you're VERY careful (like Aug apparently was with mine) you can tape the coil up (so no metal bits stick to it) and grind things down, cleaning off any excess flakes with an air compressor...
But yeah, why not just buy the right ones?
(lest you got a deal on staggerers as I did)

jagstang pickup is staggard. i just pushed the poles down flat and then put a solid cover on it. nothing bad happened. it sounds fine

My 68 has staggered... Makes no dif. imo, but I'll wait to be corrected.

i did the same thing with my j.s. single coil, cept the cover part, im not cool enough for rob roes.....

how hard to you have to push them down? i'd be worried about breaking my pickup.
