Does anybody know of a fixed bridge that will replace the strat trem. Some type of drop in replacement?Without having to fill the body.

Just block your current trem with any of the vastly publicised ways (extra springs, a wedge of some sort made either from wood or an old PP3 battery).

Yeah do that and keep the springs in. You loose the one bit of true character a Strat has in its sound if you remove the springs.

And tune the springs using the screws provided?

Ohhh. I've never actually thought about that. I don't know if you are taking the piss or not Nick but I can see something there.

I was trying to find the link to a project I saw ages ago. Basically a guy extended the vibrator cavity by 2 or so inches and put longer strings in. The sound was more Strat than a Strat.

Taking the piss? Moi?
Like you, I can see something in it. I've had a guitar where the truss rod resonated horribly and I wished I could tune it.

I don't have any extra trem units, but I have a couple bodies that I want to make hardtail without all the trouble of filling holes. That flame thing is what I'm looking for but without the hellfire on it.

I blocked my cyclones off with a cut down piece of 2x4.

yea, that same company that makes the flames one makes a normal one, but musicians friend is sold out of it right now.

I honestly think the best solution is just put all 5 springs in and tighten the fuck out of the trem claw. one of the things that gives the strat it's sound is the springs in the trem. it creates a really light reverb. I think what happens is the pickups lightly magnetize the springs.

your best + easiest way to do this is to get 5 springs, tighten the trem claw a tad, and you wont have any problems with it unless you use a set of 18's like Stevie did one time =/

I don't even have the trem pieces,so if I must buy a couple bridges I would like to get hardtails that just cover the hole.I have a few strat bodies laying around and another on the way from RobOg.And I have hAet for the trems.
