around the end of may i will have 900 in my pocket to spend.
i have had my heart set on a new squier deluxe strat in daphne blue or oly white pearl since january. they are about 250 a piece. so i could get one of those and have alot left over (hilary would approve) or i could put 900 down on a solid investment guitar. something like a new AVRI something, or Old something that would be a solid investment going forward, or just ordering something straight from japan. because frankly thats where all the cool shit is.
follow this HUGE link for an idea of what im getting at.

im thinking that oly white pearl strat with the robroe white button tuner treatment would be huge balls....possibly swap the neck with my new OG maple tint/thick poly neck that is coming in the mail soon....

I would probably get a used AVRI Jag or Jazz off ebay. I got my AVRI Jazzmaster off there for $944 shipped.
Or for an investment perhaps an old Mustang or Duo-Sonic?
Edit: Those Squiers do look bitchin though.

+1.
That's why I love my Music Master, someone made a Duo II out of it.

Is it still possible to order from Japan? I thought Fender put a stop to that, unless it isn't being enforced.

True. It's not possible to order new Fender Japan guitars from places like Ishibashi. Only used.

i've heard this said a million times, yet ishibashi still continues to quote me. not that i've ever followed through and bought anything.
rob, go for either a jaguar or an old daphne blue-o-sonic ii.

Their necks have shitty fretwork!

They had a short scale version a while back for 90 dollars and for the price I thought "why not?". At that price I would expect it to be a piece of shit, ya never know though. If it were any other color than sunburst I would have taken a chance.
I like the goofy body.

But so do Squires. The ones I've played. Thats not a problem though Rob, you seem to know how to fix guitars up pretty well.
I too am thinking about getting a Strat again, maybe even a LES PAUL!
Oh shit! I sunk the boat!

Sweet jap fender, or AVRI... or vintage investment guitar are my votes... you could most likely afford the squier any other time you want, but when else will ol' dubbya throw you an extra $600 to spend on a sweet new guitar?

Scratch and Dent Thin Skin Jaguar?
$1299
It has a flatter radius and big frets. Not at all your style.

I fully approve of a Duo-Sonic II - mine is fantastic; absolutely blows the jap mustangs OUT OF THE FUCKING WATER.

I ordered my block/binding Jazzmaster from Ishibashi last year, then they stopped selling them to US customers due to the Nazis/Fender. I have heard that Stringnet still ships to the US if you ask them in an email...
LINKAGE
$1129+ $110 shipping sounds way high to me. Of course, the dollar has taken a total shit since I bought mine. My CIJ Jazzmaster was $925 shipped...The exchange rate went all fuck-ass right after I bought it, so I wound up getting bent over for an extra $65 once the transaction went through(It was going to be around $860 when I ordered it).
Here's what it looked like when I got it...
PICTURE. I've modded it a bunch since then...
