...of a good, safe way to remove the decal on an AVRI Jazzmaster without ruining the nitro finish underneath it? I want to put a transition logo decal on it(the original is kinda fucked up anyway) but I'm afraid of having to refinish the headstock.

Thanks, Rich

I would try a hair-dryer on a low setting. Should work just fine. That's what they use to remove decals from cars...

Not too hot, though. Nitro is sensitive!

um, isn't it under the clear coat though? I don't think you can remove it without sanding it down and refinishing it.

if it's just on top, it's a waterslide decal so it should come off with water.

Nope, AVRI decals are on top of the clear, like they did in the old days.

oh ok, well, just try getting it wet and sliding it off then.

I didn't even think about that. I'll try those out later. Thanks.

Well it turns out that Goo Gone is Nitro friendly and removes the leftover gunk from trying to rub a decal off with relative ease.

My AVRI 62 Jazzmaster is now an early 65 clone(save for the 60s Sunburst). It has the transition logo with white witch hats.

This is the guitar that inspired it. It's one of the few I've seen with the smaller headstock, transition logo, and This is the guitar that inspired it, it's one of the few Ive witch hats, but no binding.

The decal has a couple of VERY minor flaws, but due to these it only cost me $10. I'm more than happy with the results.

My old decal got damaged, otherwise I would have left it.

I hate the spaghetti logo anyway. I always liked the bigger CBS Fender logo.

Thanks, Robert!

I've seen a couple AVRIs with badly placed decals too. If they're going to make such nice instruments you'd think they would at least be able to get those right.

I like both types of decals, but I like that this one is yellowed. The main thing is that YOU like it. And what the hell--you have one. That's all you need.

Thanks guys! **happy**

Rob, the splooge at the top of the 'r' is a silver spot in the Gold. That's actually why he gave me the decal for $10 instead of $20. It's a bit of an eyesore but I guess it will wear out eventually.

I think the big logo looks goofy, but you did a nice job putting it on.
