Actually, it'll take a bit more than that. Here's a quick look at the bones of what NickD sent me:
Overview: Body: Head: Not shown: bridge, stop tail, neck plate and 3 of 4 screws, rear plates, pickguard.
SO I need to source:
- nut - fat, looks as though someone started to widen the slot
- neck screw, gold (or a set)
- pickup surrounds & screws (cream/gold)
- pickup mounting screws & springs (gold)
- screws for all the panels on the rear, which I assume will be like those on the truss rod cover.
then
- bracket for the scratchplate
- maybe replacement tuners as these are so sloppy.

Does anyone have any pointers for sourcing this stuff in the UK?
Forres Music Centre looked like good prices for stuff they have (mostly Guitar Tech stuff) but I think they went under, and have remerged at http://www.forresmusicshop.com/ without an on-line shop.

Chcek out http://www.highlystrung.co.uk/ They aren't a wonder store but are reasonably priced and post quite quickly.

As a side note, that guitar used to be mine and I agree new tuners are in order. The guitar sounded great with a JB though.

The last time I got parts I got them from GuitarPartsResource and it worked out much cheaper than buying from any of the UK guys, I'm going to do the same next too.

Yeah and it only took a week for stuff to arrive from them.

Thanks, Nick. I have looked carefully, but no joy. I haven't actually looked carefully inside the body of the guitar, I'll do that this weekend.

Well, I went down to Stagebeat and got some screws and a pickup with a surround. Spent an evening building up (with epoxy) the height of a nut my son Matt picked up. Cut a temporary mounting ring out of a thick chunk of plastic from a driving light cover. Assembled enough to take it to the jam on Sunday night, though I didn't get to play it yet (Matt did). The pickup from Stagebeat turned out to be a G&B, probably ex PRS SE.

- regretted it 5 minutes later as www.axetec.co.uk seem to have a better, cheaper selection

as long as you want £10 worth - which, with knobs and stuff, I probably did.

Me and my father used to scour pawn shops together when I was a kid. I once saw a tobacco sunbust Hondo "Less Paul" and I asked him what he thought... he said "Hondo Crapo".

From then on I have never touched a Hondo...

Another time he bought a Flying V from a pawnshop for $25. It looked like some metal wanker had painted it with a hand brush. We stripped it only to find it was Gibson knock off, and not the real thing as we had hopped. As it had a set neck we decided to restore it and one day after it was complete we had it hanging on a rigged coat hanger and if fell to the basement floor... the neck snapped all the way down the middle.
