The MIJ SC4 model NOT the rare Charvel model.
It was going cheap on 'bay so i thought why not? I plugged it in for half hour today and i'm quite suprised how good the Seymour Duncan designed Lipstick pickups sound. The weakest of the three is the bridge pup, i may try lowering the height of the other two to see if that compensates. The pups have some balls! Loads of potential in the biting Blues arena and certainly general
Indie. Rolling the tone off gives you more
woman tone than Clapton could handle.
The headstock shape actually looks okay imo, and i like the jumbo frets.
The straight lined pearloid scratchplate is a 'grower' but the chrome knobs are obviously an epic fail but easily changed.
If your looking for a second hand cheap variation on Offsets be sure to look at these.
Some pics..

Thanks. Yeah, i'm thinkin about sondz, got plenty of time to record something so i'm open to suggestions of a
cover rather than the standard "..and this is the neck pickup clean with the amps mids set at 2.00 o'clock..."

I like everything about those. The pickguards are very cool. Only things I'd change are the knobs. It needs witch hats, doesn't matter what color. White or black ones would kick ass on that guitar.

Looks nice... how much did you pay for it Fran? (if you don't mind me asking)...

Lol "woman tone". I hate that term.
I kinda like those Surfcasters in an odd way- nice score, Franster!

Cheers. I paid £128.00 Viva.
I raised the bridge pup and its more balanced now, also lowered the bridge itself for teh shredz aktion. Sounds awesome but in a behaved kind of way, the pickups dont have loads of sustain so it makes you dig in and work harder with vibrato. I'm loving this, the lipsticks are a big contrast to what i usually use.
From now on i shall always think of Doog when i roll the tone off.

Saw that on eBay, got yourself a real bargain, I reckon. I love lipsticks - play the middle section of "You Made Me Realise" for the demo.

I'll work with that tomorrow. I bet its alt tuning though.

It's the "doog tone" from now on.
Like the guitar, Fran, headstock included. Maybe some Mustang- or Rickenbacker-style knobs are options.

Dig it a lot, although I still could never get over the pickguards on them. I know it's kinda shallow but they just look like sort of geometry puzzle to me.

I had a vintage white, HS, maple fretboard, one of these, that i bought around 98, i think. Great guitar, but i sold it, lol. You could see the grain through the white finish too.
