duosonic/musicmaster bridge?

Post by hendrix1234 »

i am looking for a mid 60's duo/mm bridge is ebay my best bet? or is there anyone that does repro's?

ive got a non trem strat bridge and it looks like even with the saddles at their highest point, it still wont be high enough.

i was thinking of sticking a small plate underneath to raise the whole bridge plate, but im thinking itll look dodgy.

i dont want to drill the holes for the string through if this bridge wont work.

anyone with any ideas? i was also thinking of a tunomatic and stoptail.

cheers

As far as a MM/Duo bridge? No one has ever remade the old one with the 3 saddles. Seems like a simple part, but repos are not available. Ebay is your best bet on that. They are pricey though. You can 6 saddle string through bridges, like the ones on Squiers. They work good. I've taken those and drilled them so they are top loading. That works fine.

As far as a stop-tail and tune-o-matic? Those work just fine and makes for a cool gibson/fender hybrid. Keep in mine, a tune-o-matic is a bit higher and you'll probably have to shem the neck a little bit.

I'll have to take a pic. It's on a swinger and it's over at the shop. I'll get a pic of it later.

Not a bad idea. It wouldn't have the fold over flap, but it would work.

I've toyed with the idea of having a bunch of these stamped out. In both the 50's bridges and the 60's bridges. No one on the planet is remaking em.

yeh i reckon i could do that, i just got one for my tele project, its a 3 barrel only cost me 20 bucks its a copy but would be perfect, i could buy another one and cut it just before the pup space or wherever. those barells should give me enough room for height adjustment, ill put the one ive got on there and test out the height, if its cool, then ill buy another one :)

cheers guys
